Improvise! Free-Play Creativity in Music-Making
With MJ Idzerda
In this clinic, keyboardist MJ Idzerda will guide you through interactive, free‑play techniques you can apply to all instruments. Explore creative and spontaneous music‑making, discover ways to express yourself freely, and learn how to unlock new ideas that will inspire and expand your musical journey. Musicians of all skill levels are welcome!
Beginning with piano lessons in his formative years, MJ Idzerda taught himself to play by ear and gravitated to electronic music. Playing keyboards in various Toronto bands, he honed his live performance skills and invented ways to jam spontaneously. After careers as a Yamaha keyboard demonstrator, and pipe-organ and piano technician, he became a regular guest performer with London’s Free Music Unit and The Art of Streaming at Studio 105. MJ continues to explore the world of intimate musical connection and free-play and extemporaneous composition.
