The workshop in improvisation will be an entry point into soloing on any style of music, but with examples and demonstrations in the realm of blues and jazz. Although tailored to the guitarist, all instrumentalists and vocalists are welcome. The workshop will focus on learning the basis of playing solos and composing "on-the-spot" if you have no improvising experience, as well as expanding basic skills such as the use of pentatonic scales and beyond if you've already started your improv journey.

Songwriting for Children
With Sandra Guevara
This kid-friendly clinic breaks down music composition and songwriting for absolute beginners! Songwriting is more than just fun; it’s a creative way for kids to express their thoughts and emotions while helping to develop their literacy and language skills.
What to bring: Just your child (and their favourite instrument, if they have one!).
What we’ll do:
- Learn the basic structure of a song
- Practice basic rhythm exercises
- Learn about chord progressions and rhyme schemes
- By the end of the session, the whole group will have written an original song together
Sandra Guevara has been playing the guitar for eight years and writing songs for even longer. With a Bachelor of Arts in English from Toronto Metropolitan University, she has experience telling stories across various platforms from comic books to video games, and now music.
