ES-339 Classic Thin Neck Semi Hollow Electric - Antique Red

Many players accustomed to solidbody instruments often find the ES-335s size and weight somewhat unwieldy. Now solidbody players can enjoy the distinctive tones of a semi-hollow guitar thanks to Gibsons new ES-339 model, designed and built by the experts at the Gibson Custom Shop. The ES-339 features smaller body dimensions but sacrifices none of that huge semi-hollow tone that makes the ES-335 universally appealing. Lighter, more compact and comfortable than a traditional semi-hollow guitar, the ES-339 feels like a Les Paul but sounds like an ES-335.

Despite its smaller body dimensions, the ES-339 does not look like an awkward dwarf version of a 335. The craftsmen at Gibson managed to shave several inches off the traditional semi-hollowbody design while retaining perfect proportions that look classy and natural. You may not even notice the difference until you pick up the ES-339 and instantly realize how much lighter and more comfortable it feels.

All the features guitarists love about the ES-335 are present and accounted for on the ES-339. First, it boasts a pair of 57 Classic Humbuckers that deliver full-bodied tone with rich midrange and singing sustain that players cant live without. The tulip-head Kluson tuners, nickel hardware, ABR-1 bridge, stop tailpiece, dot fingerboard inlays, and lacquer finish look like they came right out of 1958. Even the craftsmanship and attention to detail is as good as its ever been.

When plugged into to a variety of amps and A/Bd against original 50s and early 60s Gibsons, its virtually impossible to tell the difference between the vintage models and the new ES-339. From a playing standpoint, the ES-339 is a dreamboat. The smoothly polished frets feel especially comfortable under the fingers, making it possible to play fast and accurately with little effort. While the ES-339 features Gibsons standard 24 -inch scale, it somehow seems shorter. One can readily perform stretches spanning seven or more frets from the fifth fret.

Tonally, the ES-339 is everything a guitarist could want from a semi-hollow axe and more. The smaller body size does not decrease the guitars resonance, yet the ES-339 can be cranked up to even higher levels of output without feedback. In fact, guitars feedback resistance is right up there with Les Pauls and SGs. You can feel the punch and power of the 339 in every chord and notethe combination of the best sonic and performance qualities of Les Pauls and ES-335s gives the guitar a truly unique voice, and gives guitarists a totally new playing experience. The 57 Classic humbuckers deliver all the warmth, sustain and clarity of original Patent Applied For pickups, and in the ES-339 they produce a stunning, expressive midrange honk thats as fluid and assertive as a saxophone.

The tone pros at the Gibson Custom Shop have created another winner. The Gibson ES-339 is the perfect semi-hollow guitar for solidbody players. With its vintage vibe and modern performance, the ES-339 is a great all-around guitar for any style of music.

Great weight, great feel, great sound, and great looking! I've owned this for over a year and have used it in all sorts of recordings with different sounds. Awesome versatility in this guitar, with a true Gibson feel. For any confusion on the serial numbers, after extensive searching, I've found the guitars with 'ME' starting serial numbers are made in the Gibson Custom plant in Memphis, TN, not Mexico as I had feared!

Beautiful sounding instrument, very easy to set up. Sounds as advertised by dealer. I haven't a clue when it comes to reading the serial number, but thanks to YouTube in now have an idea. I purchased this instrument under the advertising header, Custom Shop Gibson ES339. After researching the serial number, I read it must begin with CS than 6 digits. Of course I had no idea at the time and i was not told otherwise when I purchased it. My instrumentson serial number begins with an ME.not CS. I don't know if that's good or bad. It looks the same as the custom shop guitar but is it. I can't find any info on that serial number. Before you purchase an instrument from L&M, I recommend you research the model and serial numbers first. Kindest Regards Gary

I have had my 339 since 2010. I was on a tire kicking mission but soon found myself on the phone with my wife. Killer axe that really does almost anything in the right mitts. Everyone who plays it deems it "special". It has become my no 1 and several offers to purchase have been rejected. Try one.

I walked into the store two years ago planning on buying a Les Paul, and walked out this this. I couldn't find a Paul with a neck I liked, and this just felt perfect from the moment I picked it up. I can make this do just about anything I want from rock solos to acoustic style strumming and it just keeps giving. Maybe it's not for everyone, but if you're in the market for this level of instrument, you owe it to yourself to try it.

Had read extensively about this guitar and headed into my local L&M (Oshawa) for a test drive. Ugh. Maybe it was just the model I had in my hands, but for two & a half grand? I'd have been an idiot to have paid for this guitar. The E on the 9th fret G-string buzzed like a chainsaw, regardless of how hard/soft I plucked it. The binding on the lower neck was sloppily applied and bled onto several frets and I struggled to keep the thing in tune while playing through a number of Fender amps nearby. Sound quality-wise? The thing was solid. The pickups can be tweaked to sound good through a range of gain stages and for a variety of styles and (that whacked G-string I mentioned a minute ago aside) I can see the benefit of having an ES-model with these unique dimensions at this price point. But again ... for over two grand? I'd better be getting as close to flawless as possible. As this particular guitar stood, there's no way in h*** I'd buy.

I'm simply in love with my ES339! It's like having the best of all worlds - from jazz to metal this baby does it all. The tone is amazing, sustain like a Les Paul and as bright and punchy as you want it to be. I highly recommend if your looking for a versatile guitar of high quality at a price under $3k

Superbly finished guitar, in all ways. I too, own the '50's thick necked' version of the 339, in 'sunburst'. This thing gives nothing away when compared to the ES335. The guitar is a tone machine. Blues. rock or whatever, it sounds simply amazing. Bought mine from L&M two years ago. It has never given me a moment of trouble and came beautifully set-up. I just love those 57 Classics. A future classic.

Got this in the sunburst finish. The stock pickups in this guitar are amazing and very versatile. I prefer the thick neck, it adds tone. This guitar is $%$^% psychic - whatever sound you have in mind it delivers.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
