ES-339 PRO Semi Hollow Electric - Vintage Sunburst
This product is no longer available.
Through the course of more than five decades and myriad shifting musical styles, the ES-335 has remained one of the most popular electric guitars of all time. Its ingenious blend of hollowbody warmth and complexity and solidbody bite and sustain made it arguably the most versatile guitar available when Gibson introduced the model in 1958, and that design imperative hasnt changed today.

For some players more accustomed to the slimmer lines and more compact dimensions of a solidbody electric, though, the standard ES-335 can feel just a little large and unwieldy. Enter Gibson Memphis's ES-339, a guitar built to the design ethos of its predecessor the ES-335, but fashioned to proportions closer to those of the legendary Gibson solidbodies such as the Les Paul and SG. The gently arched top with real f-holes, thinline semi-hollow body, solid maple center block to reduce feedback and enhance sustain, rounded symmetrical cutaways with unparalleled upper-fret accessall here, minus a little of the bulk and weight.

I just bought this guitar used today from L&M Mississauga. I'd read about it before and luckily I found it hanging there hanging on the wall minding its own business. The salesman got it down and hooked it up to an amp for me to play it on. The tones you can get out of this guitar are amazing and plentiful and it feels really nice to play. I highly recommend this guitar to anyone serious about having an incredible assortment of sweet or salty tones in a very cozy instrument. p.s. kudos to the staff at L&M Mississauga for being so friendly and helpful, I wouldn't go anywhere else for anything musical. :)

Purchased this at the Brantford store two years ago after a weeks trial . Still my go to guitar. After free set up, the action was nice and low and combined with a set of 9s was very kind to my arthritic fingers. The smaller body allows me to tilt it forward to accommodate my grip when sitting. Pickups sound great and are versatile. A great blues machine. So, if youre wondering if you still can, try this one you won't be disappointed. If you're in Brantford ask for Bruce. He is knowledgeable kind and patient.

I wanted a hollow/semi body and chose the ES 339 Pro. Smaller than the 335 so it is a better fit. I am a Senior with some limited mobility of arms and fingers so I traded my Godin 5th Ave Kingpin because the body's to big, for this and a Seagull Entourage parlor sized acoustic. I did a mod with a Duesenburg tremolo arm and a roller bridge along with a string butler, put some D'daddario 12 flat wounds and tuned it down to D scale for ease of play and she stays in tune no matter the bending. Very happy.

I'm very happy with it. I had a 335 but I couldn't really get used to the size but liked the sounds it gave me. But now, with my Epi 339, it's just the right fit! Love the pickups with the split added although it has room for improvement so I'll do a little upgrade. But, other than that, for the price and what it offers you can't go wrong with it! Especially with David Gilmour GHS Boomers on it!

I was actually really surprised with this guitar. It's well built and even though the coil tap doesn't really sound like your typical singlecoil or anything similar, it's definitely. In the past I've always found Gibson and Epiphone's quality too low and prices too high, but this definitely is a sign that Epiphone has done something right.

I was looking for a guitar to call my own. All my other guitars are hand-me-downs or my daughter's. I love Epiphone Guitars and I looked for a long time. I saw this guitar hanging on the rack and from the moment I picked it up I knew this was it. The tone is amazing. The push-pull pick-up splitting is so easy and the variation of the sound is very noticeable. Add to that the incredible light weight compared to a solid body and you have a wonderful instrument. If you're looking for a guitar that you can grow old with, this is it.

This always happens with online reviews. 2nd time above was obviously talking about the Epiphone ES339 since the Gibson doesn't have a switch to go to single coil. I do have the Gibson and it's great, like a cross between an LP and an ES3335. The pickups are perfect for this guitar, changing them would not be an improvement.

I rented this guitar for a month, and I decided I was going to buy it right away. I rented a stock one, and some things I noticed right away were the binding and overall quality. I also think that the coil tapping via push pull is absolutely awesome. You can use so many tones easily on this guitar with no trouble. My only concern is that long and mgquade did not really seem to want to help with me and just never really answered my questions about the guitar. No effort The guitar is absolutely amazing and feels so good and sounds great. If it's in your budget, pick a colour and buy.

Purchased a month ago, was playing it at church during sound check and while moving to single coil the dial, post and all came out. L&M were great, ordered in a new one, took a while for it to arrive, but it is home now. Everything is working fine. The sounds are great, setup out of the box is good. The strings and fret board are a little dirty, but I will clean that up when I change strings. Over all, I like the tone options with this guitar, and for the price, it is really a good deal. The key point for me is the way that L&M handled the problem with the first guitar. Extremely professional and top rate customer service.

Recently purchased an ES-339 Pro Epiphone. I'm used to USA Gibsons and Fenders, this is my first "cheap" guitar. If you're looking for something under $500 and want a versatile guitar - don't look much further. It's worth checking out in person. The one I purchased has nice and low action without any fret buzz, perfect intonation and the build quality is actually pretty good. Even if you spent another $400 upgrading the pickups and pots, you'd still have a bargain! But it doesn't mean you absolutely need to start changing hardware, it's just personal preference... the guitar "as-is" sounds great.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
