I love this guitar, it's sound is just wonderful. Nothing can quite replicate the hollow body resonance. This is a guitar for playing in concert hall, it rings out like a banjo. Just understand this is not a gain loving instrument and you will have great time. I needed to lower the string height quite a bit for my playing but that was easy enough. It looks great, feels like a quality instrument, which it is. The fretboard is really nice with it's wide markers and nice wood grain. The fast action tuning pegs take some getting used to but are reasonably stable. My only beef with this guitar is it's balance. It is quite body heavy, so if you play on your lap you need to constantly compensate for it's heavy body, which can get annoying. If you play with a neck strap, not an issue. No regrets for me, that's for sure. Love it.

For years I thought Made in China was synonymous with poor quality. And that is true for lots of things it doesn't apply in any way to the Epiphone Casino. The quality build and playability of this guitar rivals any American made I have ever tried. That says alot as I've been playing for over 50 years.\nAnyway I cant recommend this guitar any higher. If you dont at least try one out you are missing a great opportunity.

I’ve been buying guitars and doing my own set up for over 45 years. I’ve been a long time customer of L&M. I only have the highest praise for this company.
I got this shipped on line and it came perfect in 3 days. I normally and fully expect to do a full on set up. Intonation, string height, fret dressing, truss rod adjustment. This one came perfect. I was just floored. I could not believe that a China built guitar was impeccable. I only had to moisturize the Indian Laurel wood and adjust string height to my liking. No buzzing. To sharp edges. No proud frets. Neck bow perfect. Wow. Electronics perfect. No noisy pops or scratching. Static click etc. I have a great Gibson LP standard from years ago. Set perfect. This casino is right there. Seriously. I’m 63 years old and know my stuff. Been playing a long time. This guitar blows my mind. Worth it. Buy it. With L&M money back 30 day no questions ask what can go wrong. It’s a keeper. I’ve had one Korean casino and one reissue 1961 Nashville casino. Got to say this one is the best. Highly recommended. Especially through our Canadian store L&M.

The Epiphone Casino is a versatile guitar, and covers territory which a Les Paul or Strat can not. Some effort may however be required to overcome QC issues and fine tune its' performance.

I ordered my 2019 model new from L&M (off the rack from a non-local store), and it was a total mess. The truss rod was completely slack and rattling around inside the neck. The saddles were poorly machined and did not seat properly in the bridge. The bridge, posts, and inserts were all of poor tolerance and did not mate properly. The selector switch rattled. When strummed unplugged the numerous rattles and buzzes were louder than the chords!

With some effort these issues can be overcome. I engaged the truss rod, disassembled the bridge and corrected the saddles and screw holes with a file. Teflon tape helped with the post tolerances.

L&M's techs would likely have sorted out these issues, but I declined their offer of a free setup, preferring to do the work myself. Casinos are notorious for rattling, and considerable patience is required if you want to it be buzz-free when played unplugged.

With the buzz and rattle eliminated it turned out to be an excellent instrument and a good value. Comfortable neck, good fretwork, well-constructed body, and all the characteristic resonance and sustain which you would expect from a hollow body guitar.

Hardware quality aside, this is an outstanding instrument, and its' modest price tag invites further hardware upgrades which can elevate an already great guitar to the next level.

With a different name on the headstock, better factory QC, and more attention to finish details (i.e. paint around f-holes) a similar guitar would be priced 3x higher.

Got this guitar a week ago and I already love it. I'm a huge Beatles fan and one of my main concerns was whether I should get this Chinese made Epiphone Casino or pay that extra 2k for an American made one. All my other guitars are made in USA but to be honest this Epiphone Casino is no disappointment. For the money, it produces an amazing sound, quality is great, and it feels and weights practically nothing. I honestly love this guitar and would like to thank Long and McQuade in Laval because their service is just always great. They also found me a great and new hard case for it.

I was torn between this guitar and a Epi Es 335 style Dot. Even though it was more money I am happy I went for the hollow body Casino, to my mind the 335 is a solid body and sounds like one (no one ever described Les Paul's original log as 'a 'semi hollow').With this guitar you can entertain yourself on the couch and practice lead solos and other tricks you cant do on a typical acoustic Martin style dreadnought,......all other solids don't have the pleasing audible sound this does without an amp. Make no mistake this rocks hard - think of Malcolm Young's ACDC power rhythm chords!
I put a set of .011strings on mine for extra tone and the tension keeps me from over bending lead solo notes too sharp. To balance out the pickup volume I turned the bridge pickup screws up about 3mm. I think many who feel these guitars are too muddy need to tweak these screws as a lot of clarity and treble tones come out. Yah some people feel it's not their favorite guitar shape but wow what a historical piece of gear with 1930s - 40s technology- a flavor you cant beat and does it all except for 1980s hair metal stuff and maybe some Hendrix.

I just traded for an epiphone Casino and couldn't be happier! Mine was made at the Peerless factory in Korea in '98 and has a licensed big Sky too.
Light in weight, but heavy on tone, I play this through my Tweed clone clean and I'm in 1957. Throw a distortion pedal on through my Marshall JCM and it again comes to life.
I avoided hollow bodies in lieu of solids for a long time, but no more. Love my Peerless Casino! Not a flaw on it!

I have had my Casino for about 10 years. I also have several guitars but this is near and dear to my heart. I love the fact that it weighs very little and the neck is very thin. The p90s sound great. The only flaw I can find were the tuners. I have switched them out to Grover’s and problem solved. I highly recommend this guitar to people looking for a hollow body that is reasonably priced.

This is one of three guitars I own -- the others are an Epi Les Paul Studio and a Yamaha LL6 -- and all three play extremely well. But the Casino is my favorite of the bunch. It's extremely versatile, and the Beatles connection makes it special. I'd recommend this guitar to anyone who loves to play and wants top quality.

Wanted a used one. No L+M in town so called their online desk who informed me of all used Casinos in their system. Hooked up with the Courtnay BC shop. They said they had a nice one. I respect and trust L+M so did the deal on the phone. They packed it and sent it to The Soo by Purolator. Arrived in 5 days.

It arrived in perfect condition. Serial number shows it was made in Korea in April 2002. Awesome.

The craftsmanship is high quality. The playability is very comfortable, natural and smooth. It is a well built guitar with great P-90 pickups (spank and sparkle) and a fast neck (a bit like the old Hags). Even though used, the fit and finish quality is spot on. Lightweight of course as it is a fully hollow-body build. The bridge is set in place and will not slide on ya. The vintage vibe is complete with an aged tint to the binding and selector, Kluson style tuners (easy and smooth), gold top-hat style knobs with metal stop markers. It just feels so darn good to play.

All Canadian music gear shoppers need to know how accommodating and trustworthy Long & McQuade is. You don't have to live in the major centers to get good deals and good service. L+M Delivers!! (When are you coming to The Soo?)

I couldn't be any happier with this guitar! I just picked it up yesterday, and cannot part with it. The fit and finish are perfect; not a single flaw throughout. Guitar came perfectly set up from the truly helpful staff at L&M Kanata. The sound is amazing both plugged in and acoustic (for those of us who do most of our playing unplugged on the couch, this guitar resonates really well - I'd put it a little more than halfway between an acoustic and an electric volume-wise unplugged). The neck is just as comfortable as my 50's Gibson Les Paul, and I can definitely see this guitar being great for rhythm or lead. Absolutely love it; it's one of the guitars that will permanently stay in my collection.

I got this guitar last Christmas and it is one of the best guitars I have ever played so far. I was amazed by the Gibson P-90 pick-ups the sound is aggressive making a rich tone with harmonics for rock, blues and metal. This is a amazing guitar in every way.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
