Welcome to Dartmouth's largest music lesson centre located at 124 Main street, Dartmouth. We offer 15 spacious studios in house and our very own recital room. Our studios are equipped with state of the art keyboards and acoustic upright pianos as well as a Yamaha Concert Grand. We offer lessons in violin, viola, cello, all woodwind and brass, all styles piano, guitar (electric and acoustic), banjo, ukulele, bodhran, percussion and drumset. We also offer many classes such as; recording and electronic music production, string ensembles, musical theatre and even step dancing! Call us at 902-496-6966 and we can get you set up!

Aaron Klingbeil - EDM Production and Ableton Live music lessons in Dartmouth

Aaron Klingbeil (EDM Production and Ableton Live)

Formally educated in audio engineering and music production, Aaron holds a studio engineering diploma from Metalworks Institute in Mississauga, Ontario. Upon graduation, Aaron received a mentorship award with Rick Fines for his honours achievement. Klingbeil is now educating students in electronic music production and audio engineering techniques using Ableton Live. 
Moving from classical piano, to the modern keyboard and now producing music using digital audio software, Aaron has acquired a taste for a more eclectic sound.  Sourced from Indie electronic bands like DFA 1979, Radiohead and Fever Ray, this inspiration becomes apparent in his dark production style as Curiousface ( More Recently, Aaron is kin to the psychedelic sounds of downtempo electronic producers such as Globular, Eskmo and Amon Tobin. "It's The texture in the sound design that I love; I want to be able to imagine how the music feels as if it were a tactile experience. These producers create a soundscape that evoke visuals of a distant space." private lessons are $23/half hour or $15 for class setting.

Adam LeBlanc - Violin/Fiddle, Viola, Cello, Step Dance music lessons in Dartmouth

Adam LeBlanc (Violin/Fiddle, Viola, Cello, Step Dance)

Adam has been playing the violin for over a decade and has taken lessons with distinguished fiddlers Samantha Robichaud and Stacey Read. He has also had several years of classical training with Monique Girouard. He has competed several times at the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Championship in Ottawa, ON. He has competed in several competitions in the Maritime Provinces, and has won the 19-59 class at the Maritime Fiddle Festival. 
While completing his studies at Mount Allison University (B.Sc. Hon. Chemistry), Adam played with the Mount Allison Chamber Orchestra. He has also taken several music theory and aural skills classes. On top of playing the violin, Adam is also familiar with both the viola and cello. 
Adam's rate for a half-hour private lesson is $24.00.

Amy Ewer - Piano music lessons in Dartmouth

Amy Ewer (Piano)

Amy Ewer has a Bachelors of Music from Dalhousie University with a major in piano. She has played Bach, Beethoven, Chopin and Prokofiev, among others in recitals at Dalhousie and other venues. Amy has been teaching music since 2009 and has years of experience working with children. Her rate for a half hour private lesson is $23.

Andrew received a music degree from St. Francis Xavier as well as over 5 years of mentorship under jazz drummer Jerry Granelli. As a teacher has taught with Los Primos, Nova Scotia Honour Jazz, and currently he is on faculty at NSCC. Brad has a music degree from Dalhousie University and has been playing in local and national bands for the last 17 years. He has appeared on stage with a number of acts such as Nathan Wiley, Blue Rodeo, Sam Roberts, Dutch Mason, Matt Mays, and Jill Barber, received a Juno during his tenure with “Johnny Favourite” and currently he plays regularly with “The Mellotones”, “The Metric System”, “Joe Murphy”, “The Hopping Penguins”, and hosts a long standing weekly blues jam at Bearly’s. He’s been teaching for the last 16 years and is a regular coach at Summer Rock. His rate for a half-hour private lesson is $23.

Danielle studied piano at Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton (Jazz Program) and has completed Grade 8 Royal Conservatory of Music in Piano and Grade 6 in Voice.  Danielle has a wide variety of styles which include classical, musical theatre, rock and pop.  Danielle is a singer-songwriter that has been nominated for Music Nova Scotia and MusicNL awards. David McLean (Guitar, Drums, Songwriting and Theory)

David graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2015 and has been recording and performing all over North America, learning from some of the top touring musicians in their fields, David has had the opportunity to work with artists like Slash, Mark Tremonti and Jeff Williams. He has also recorded for online entertainers such as Screw Attack and Rooster Teeth. David currently performs regularly with Joe Murphy. His rate for half-hour private lesson is $23.

Dorian Baker - Clarinet and Piano music lessons in Dartmouth

Dorian Baker (Clarinet and Piano)

Dorian completed his Undergraduate Degree in Music from Mount Allison University, while simultaneously studying Clarinet Performance at The Boston Conservatory. During his undergrad, Dorian held principal positions in the Mount Allison University Chamber Orchestra, the Boston Conservatory Orchestra and the Boston Conservatory Wind Ensemble. After completing his undergrad, Dorian moved to Toronto where he completed a Masters Degree in Clarinet Performance from the University of Toronto. Dorian maintained a position as principal clarinet with the University of Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and was also an active chamber musician, performing all of the Brahms, Mozart, and Beethoven masterworks for clarinet. Dorian has taken masterclasses in North America and throughout Europe with world-renowned artists such as Anthony McGill of the New York Philharmonic, and Walter Seyfarth of the Berlin Philharmonic. Dorian has also worked as a recording artist and has recorded for Eight Note Publications and for the Screen Composers Guild of Canada.

Doug Cameron - Drums music lessons in Dartmouth

Doug has a Bachelor of Arts in Music from St. Francis Xavier University. He has been playing in various groups in Halifax for the last six years, has toured the continent with Aide de Camp, and plays in the ECMA nominated band Doctor Dfunkt and award-winning David Myles. Doug has been teaching rock, jazz and other styles of drumming for the last eight years. His rate for a half-hour private lesson is $23.

Doug Scurfield (Drums) has a B.A. in percussion performance from St. Francis Xavier University and has studied privately with Jerry Granelli. Dunnery Bond is a singer-songwriter who graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance in 2015. He has appeared in six mainstage Neptune Theatre productions, won the nationally aired singing competition "The Next Star" in 2008, and has studied both classical and jazz piano for over sixteen years - including completing his Grade 9 RCM. Gerald spent seven years studying jazz and classical guitar in university. He played on the “Whose New” shows on CBC, and did live radio in Vancouver. He’s played in everything from classical and jazz guitar duets, to banjo in symphonies, mandolin in the U.S, rhythm for 16+ singers, and played in all types of Broadway shows and pit orchestras. Halifax pianist Gregory Myra received his Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance in 2009 from Dalhousie University. Upon graduation he accompanied the students of Professor Lucy Hayes-Davis at Dalhousie for two years. In 2011 he began studies at the University of Manitoba under Dr. Laura Loewen and graduated in 2013 with a Masters of Music in Collaborative Piano. He is currently the pianist for the voice studio of Professor Marcia Swanston at Dalhousie University. He has performed for five seasons with the Halifax Summer Opera Festival and has also performed with Opera Nova Scotia and the Dalhousie Chamber Series. Along with this he loves teaching piano to students of all ages, from beginner to advanced.

John is a graduate of the NSCC Music Arts program with extensive experience playing and performing in a wide variety of genres. From the age of 12 he was drumming in bands in the local all-ages alternative music scene, and simultaneously became involved in the Los Primos Program, performing in youth latin jazz combos around Halifax. Since graduating he has been splitting his time between teaching, touring, recording, and performing with diverse acts such as Loveland, Harley Alexander, New Love Underground, and many more. John continues to immerse himself in new concepts, styles, and musical environments. His rate is $23.00 for a private half hour lesson.

John Lindsay-Botten - Voice, Piano, Brass music lessons in Dartmouth

John Lindsay-Botten (Voice, Piano, Brass)

John has a Bachelors in Music in Voice from Mount Allison University and grade 8 Royal Conservatory of Music piano. John originally entered university on trombone but switched to voice after two years. He has sung both solo and chorally with the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir, the Elora Festival Singers, Nathaniel Dett Chorale, Mississauga Choral Society, and the Toronto Jewish Folk Choir among others, and he took on the lead role of Pierre Elliott Trudeau in Vocalypse Productions’ presentation of G. E. Clarke and D.D. Jackson’s opera Trudeau: Long March/Shining Path. John has produced a CD of his own pop/adult compositions called ‘A Labour of Love’. He has been teaching music since 1994 and his rate for a half-hour private lesson is $24.00.

Jonathan Haggett - Trumpet music lessons in Dartmouth

Jonathan Haggett (Trumpet)

Jonathan has been playing trumpet for twenty years. He went through the Halifax school system playing in groups such as HSSO, All City Jr. and Sr. big bands, Nova Scotia Honour Jazz and played in the pit for several musicals. He has played in several brass bands across the country playing Eb soprano cornet, Flugelhorn and Solo Cornet. He studied trumpet at Dalhousie University under the tutelage of Jeff Stern. He has been playing trumpet professionally for 10 years with the Canadian Armed Forces. He has played with professional groups such as the Stadacona band of the Royal Canadian Navy and most recently did a tour of Europe with the Royal Canadian Artillery band located in Edmonton. While in Europe he performed in the 100th anniversary of Vimy Ridge ceremony, the Tower of London ceremony along with the changing of the guard at Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace.

Krysi Bruce - Voice, Brass, Beginner Piano music lessons in Dartmouth

Krysi Bruce (Voice, Brass, Beginner Piano)

Krysi completed her B.A.(Hons) and B.Ed from Memorial University before attending NSCC's Music Arts program. She has previously sang and played rhythm piano for a local blues group, sang in a barbershop quartet, performed in The Sound of Music (and many other local theatre productions), played trumpet with The Halifax Los Primos Project, and loves any opportunity to make music -- especially with her many students. She strives to make learning fun and uses differentiated teaching methods to appeal to the many styles of learning found in students of all ages. Her cheery disposition makes her an ideal teacher for those wishing to have fun and learn in an unconventional lesson setting. She teaches voice and piano performance, along with trumpet, French horn, music theory, and song-writing & arranging for beginners. Logan Bennett (Trumpet and Piano)

Logan studied orchestral trumpet at the University of British Columbia, completing his master’s degree in 2014. He then went on to teach private music lessons at international schools for over two years. His travels tookhim to far off locations such as the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and Southeast Asia. He has performed with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Kamloops Symphony Orchestra, and Westben Festival Orchestra. He has extensive solo performance experience as well as with brass ensemblessuch as the Vancouver Brass Project and Qatar Philharmonic Brass Ensemble. Mark Calvi (Guitar, Bass and Theory)

Mark has a Bachelor of Music from Dalhousie University in Classical Guitar Performance (1998), where he studied with Carol van Feggelen, Sylvie Proulx and Douglas Reach. He also completed the Delta Guitar Program with honours at the Canadian Conservatory of Music (1992), studying Rock, Blues and popular styles.
Mark has worked as a TA for the Dalhousie Music Department in Musicology assisting with class materials and giving brief presentations and demos. He has participated in a masterclass given by the world renowned flamenco guitarist, Juan Martin.
Mark has played various venues and in local groups over the years. He has been teaching Rock, Blues, Classical, and other popular styles at the Music Lesson Centre since 1998.
Mark has also coached at Summer Rock and ran the Weekend Warriors program.

Pat has a Certificate in arranging and composition from the Berklee College of Music, has gigged with many of the top names in the musical universe, and is mentor to some of the best musicians in Atlantic Canada. He was the main host of the CBC Rock Camp series and currently sings, writes, produces, and is a top session player. He is one of the founders and currently the director of Summer Rock Camp, has been teaching award and scholarship winning students since 1990s and is a Primary Instrument Instructor at the NSCC Music program. Susan Sharpe began playing through the Halifax schools’ strings program. She has played in the Nova Scotia Youth Orchestra and Mount Allison String Ensemble, and continues to play orchestral music with the Halifax Music Co-op. Susan enjoys playing a wide range of music, from classical to fiddle to music from movies and video games. Always on the lookout for more opportunities to play in a group, her favorite musical experience is playing in big orchestras. With experience teaching in musical and academic settings, Susan has taught all ages from young children to adults. Yousef Mousavi - Guitar music lessons in Dartmouth

Yousef Mousavi (Guitar)

Yousef Mousavi is a songwriter and composer who graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2017. Originally educated on the piano, Yousef picked up the guitar at the age of eleven and has since been performing the guitar in the Halifax area solo and with multiple bands and groups. In 2010, he was awarded King’s View Academy’s Excellence in Fine Arts Award. While at Berklee, he studied under jazz/rock/blues guitarists Tom Miller, Tomo Fujita, and Jack Pezanelli. He also studied video game composition with Duncan Watts, composer of Bioshock: Infinite and League of Legends. Yousef gives yearly lectures in Toronto on the music of Japanese Animation.

Yuliya Zuychenko - Piano music lessons in Dartmouth

Yuliya Zuychenko (Piano)

Yulia graduated with Honours from the Zaporozshky State Music College in the Ukraine and worked as a piano teacher and children’s choir director while taking courses at the Harkov Institute for Music and Arts there. In 2000 she taught piano for the New Conservatory of Music in Toronto, and in 2002 and 2003 was named teacher of the year. Yuliya specializes in preparing students for all levels of RCM exams, Kiwanis festivals, and other competitions. She has been teaching for Long & McQuade since 2004. Yuliya also teaches Music Theory.
