This King 3B Concert Trombone, remains one of the finest vintage King 3B examples to pass through The Brass Exchange. Though now part of our Archive of Sold instruments, it stood out for its remarkable originality, condition, and craftsmanship.

The King 3B has been one of the most influential jazz trombones ever produced, valued for its clarity, flexibility, and unmistakable “King Sweet Tone.” This particular instrument was in supreme mint condition, paired with a rare burgundy alligator-style coffin case that added an extra layer of historical charm. Before leaving our shop it received a full professional service, including chemical cleaning and handslide setup, and it played exactly as a great 3B should — responsive, balanced, and effortless in tone.

Instruments like this remind us how important condition, originality, and careful maintenance are when evaluating vintage trombones. Many players keep horns like this in storage for years, and later wonder about value when downsizing a collection, upgrading, or helping with a family estate.
