SUMMER MUSIC EXPERIENCES
JULY ROCK SKOOL with JARED:
A 5-day band experience where YOU get to rehearse, jam, and rock out with other students, just like a real band.
COST: $275 per person - non-refundable upon registration
DATE: 5 days - from Monday, July 13th, 2026 to Friday, July 17th, 2026
TIME: 11 am to 2 pm
LOCATION: 955 Lorne Street, Kamloops
INSTRUMENTS: Guitar, Bass, Drums & Voice
WHO: Students ages 9-13 years with 2+ years playing or equivalent proficiency
REQUIREMENTS:
- SHOULD KNOW OPEN CHORDS & BAR CHORDS
- TAB READING (guitar/bass)
- BASIC STRUMMING PATTERNS
- ROCK BEATS & BASIC FILLS
- Bring your own guitar, bass & drumsticks. Everything else provided
- Interest in singing background vocals is an asset!

AUGUST ROCK SKOOL with JARED:

Kris, originally from Poland, has been teaching for over 30 years. With diplomas in both Education and Music, he taught at elementary and music schools in both Poland and Germany before moving to Canada. Kris has played percussion in symphony orchestras in Europe and Canada, as well as drums in rock, metal, and jazz bands. In 2010, Kris opened a private teaching studio and is now looking forward to teaching at Long & McQuade. Kris speaks English, Polish, Russian, and German and teaches students of all ages & levels.
His rate is $31 per half-hour.

Rocky comes to us with a Bachelor of Music Performance from Brandon University, specializing in jazz drum studies. He has previously taught both privately and at Fader’s Music in Brandon, MB. Currently, Rocky plays for the Kamloops Beyond Brass Band and directs a Junior Youth program at Summit Drive Baptist. Rocky is excited to be teaching drum lessons at Long & McQuade and welcomes students of all ages & levels.
His rate is $30 per half-hour.
Our Group Lessons:
Rock Skool is a program designed for students who are ready to expand their musical skills beyond private lessons and gain experience playing in a band setting.
This group program brings together students currently enrolled in private lessons who have 2+ years of experience on their instrument and are ready for a collaborative musical challenge.
What students will learn:
• How to rehearse and communicate in a band setting
• Listening skills, timing, and groove
• Song structure and arrangement
• Stage presence and confidence
• How their individual part fits into the “big picture” of a band.
Students will work together with Jared to learn and rehearse popular rock and pop songs. The focus is on teamwork, musicianship, and having a blast making music with others.
This is a fantastic opportunity for students who are curious about band life, want to build confidence, and are ready for a fun musical challenge during Spring Break.
Spaces will be limited to keep the experience focused and supportive.

AGES: 9 - 13 years
LEVEL: 2+ years of experience in guitar, bass, drums or vocals

This group program brings together students currently enrolled in private lessons who have 4+ years of experience on their instrument and who have previously attended Rock Skook or have worked in a band setting.
Students should be able to learn songs in the studio at a more accelerated rate.
What students will learn:
• How to rehearse and communicate in a band setting
• Listening skills, timing, and groove
• Song structure and arrangement
• Stage presence and confidence
• How their individual part fits into the “big picture” of a band.
Students will work together with Jared to learn and rehearse popular rock and pop songs. The focus is on teamwork, musicianship, and having a blast making music with others.
This is a fantastic opportunity for students who are curious about band life, want to build confidence, and are ready for a fun musical challenge during Spring Break.
