After several years of teaching piano, Emily (MTA, MT-BC) completed a Bachelors degree in Music Therapy at the University of Windsor, while studying piano performance under Dr. Gregory E Butler. For the past five years, Emily has been working as a music therapist as well as providing typical and adaptive piano lessons at Long and McQuade. Her music therapy training helps her accommodate different learning styles and abilities in the lesson room. Her philosophy of teaching is to lead individuals to achieve their full potential, through music. Her rate is $33/half hour.

Mahtab is a certified music educator with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and an RCM Pedagogy Certificate. A versatile musician and dedicated teacher, she brings a wealth of performance experience as both a soloist and accompanist, and is also active as a choir member. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes creativity, discipline, and personal growth, aiming to inspire a lifelong love of music in her students. By blending strong technical knowledge with engaging, student-centered methods, Mahtab creates a learning environment that is both enjoyable and impactful. Her rate is $33/half hour.

Paul Cheng (Cello, Violin, Viola, Theory, Upright Bass)

Paul started playing the violin at age 6. He studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music in London for a number of years, came to Canada in 1987, and continued his music education at the University of British Columbia and Manhattan School of Music in New York. Since then, Paul has been playing and teaching in North America for the last 20 years. Paul is actively performing all year round with local symphony orchestras and small ensembles... from Classical to Jazz and constantly recording with many local composers/artists. His rate is $33/half hour.

Yelena Watson (Piano, Theory)

Yelena is a dedicated and experienced piano teacher with over 30 years of expertise in guiding students of all ages and skill levels. With a strong foundation in both classical and contemporary piano techniques, she is passionate about nurturing musicality and building confidence in each student. Yelena excels in lesson planning, exam preparation (including RCM), and coordinating student recitals. Committed to fostering a positive and engaging learning environment, she ensures each student receives personalized attention and support. Yelena holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Pedagogy from UBC, bringing both academic knowledge and practical experience to her teaching. Her rate is $35/half hour.
