alex ward (Piano, Trumpet, Trombone, Saxophone, Upright Bass)

Alex teaches piano, bass, trumpet, saxophone & trombone, & works regularly with theatre companies such as Western Canada Theatre. Alex is also a member of Kamloops-based band, Mother Sun, who are set to release their 3rd album on record label Earth Libraries. He has studied piano, organ, bass (electric & upright), trombone & sax & has played with Provincial & District Honour Bands as well as the Kamloops Big Band. Alex teaches students of all ages & levels.
His rate is $28 per half-hour.

elizabeth pawliuk (Piano, Theory)

Elizabeth's passion for music began at a young age. She is the pianist for the SKSS Jazz Band, will be the accompanist for the SKSS 2022 Choir and also plays clarinet, alto sax and guitar. Elizabeth loves to teach and play all styles of music. Elizabeth has completed her Level 9 RCM Piano Practical & History exams and continues to study teaching methods and curriculum strategies to supplement her lesson plans. Elizabeth has extensive experience as a student teacher and peer tutor and looks forward to seeing you in her lesson studio to help you achieve your music goals.
Her rate is $27 per half-hour.

emily zinger (Piano, Theory, Voice)

Emily is a Voice instructor with over 25 years of experience. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (with Distinction) in Vocal Performance & Vocal Pedagogy from King’s University in Edmonton, as well as a Church Music Diploma. Emily’s students have consistently received First Class Honours in both Voice & Piano exams (RCM & Conservatory Canada) & many of her graduates have gone on to post-secondary institutions for voice/piano/theatre & from there, to successful performing & teaching careers of their own. Emily has a passion for the study of voice science and is trained in Somatic Voicework, the Alexander Technique, the Feldenkrais Technique and the Level 1 Estill Method™. She is also Level 1 Certified in Heather Lyle's Vocal Yoga™. Emily loves teaching all styles & all ages.
Her rate is $28 per half-hour.

isabella rohner-tensee (Fiddle, Piano, Violin)

Isabella comes to us from Ontario, where she recently completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Child Studies from the University of Guelph. Having completed her Grade 8 Royal Conservatory for Violin, she has been teaching violin, fiddle and piano for 6 years. Starting in September 2023, you will see Isabella playing in the Kamloops Brandenburg Orchestra. Isabella enjoys working with students of all ages, including younger children and individualizes lesson plans for each student so they can learn not only to play but to LOVE playing their chosen instrument.
Her rate is $29 per half-hour.

jackson marshall (Guitar, Ukulele)

Jackson grew up in Kamloops and began playing guitar at the age of 8, taking lessons and studying the instrument until graduating high school. Upon graduation, he attended Douglas College & Capilano University, where he studied Classical & Jazz Guitar, Theory and Music History. His performance background includes rock, metal, classical, jazz, folk, pop & blues and he currently plays in a local band. Jackson has taught for 10 years, 5 of these with Long & McQuade Kamloops. He teaches many styles, enjoys improvisation & jamming in his lessons and works with beginner to advanced students of all ages.
His rate is $30 per half-hour.

jared doherty (Guitar, Ukulele)

Jared is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Kamloops. He specializes in acoustic/electric guitar & bass and also plays piano, drums, ukulele, alto & tenor saxophone. Raised in a musical family, Jared took mandolin & piano lessons as a child & continued his musical education by playing bass in his school band. He taught himself to play guitar at 15 and recently picked up the tenor saxophone. Jared records much of his own music and has been a member of several Kamloops indie bands over the last decade, touring around Western Canada and putting on local shows. He is currently part of the local four-piece band Mother Sun, where he writes, composes, sings and plays guitar. Jared welcomes new students of all ages to his schedule.
His rate is $28 per half-hour.

jayson lockerbie (Piano, Theory)

Jayson will be starting his 8th year of teaching at our location. He has studied RCM Classical Piano & Theory (Lvl 9) & continues to study to enhance his knowledge of music & music education. In his spare time, Jayson writes & records his own music. In addition to his love of classical music, Jayson uses pop, rock & jazz in his lessons and teaches piano & theory.
His rate is $29 per half-hour.

kris lipnicki (Drums)

Kris, originally from Poland, has been teaching for over 30 years. With diplomas in both Education and Music, he taught at elementary and music schools in both Poland and Germany before moving to Canada. Kris has played percussion in symphony orchestras in Europe and Canada, as well as drums in rock, metal, and jazz bands. In 2010, Kris opened a private teaching studio and is now looking forward to teaching at Long & McQuade. Kris speaks English, Polish, Russian, and German and teaches students of all ages & levels.
His rate is $29 per half-hour.

rocky naylor (Drums, Percussion)

Rocky comes to us with a Bachelor of Music Performance from Brandon University, specializing in jazz drum studies. He has previously taught both privately and at Fader’s Music in Brandon, MB. Currently, Rocky plays for the Kamloops Beyond Brass Band and directs a Junior Youth program at Summit Drive Baptist. Rocky is excited to be teaching drum lessons at Long & McQuade and welcomes students of all ages & levels.
His rate is $28 per half-hour.

sean luciw (Guitar, Ukulele, Bass Guitar)

Sean has over 30 years of experience as a versatile performer, producer & studio musician. He has been teaching guitar, ukulele, bass, & drums for over 15 years while continuing to remain an active performer & recording artist. He enjoys incorporating theory, improvisation, composition & group performance into his lessons.
His rate is $30 per half-hour.

stacey grant (Piano, Oboe, Theory)

With over 20 years of teaching experience in Piano & Oboe, Stacey enjoys working with students of all ages in both classical & popular styles of music. She works to instill a strong sense of theory education & technique in her students. Stacey holds RCM Grade 10 certification in both instruments & performs as Principal Oboe with both The Thompson Valley Orchestra and The Kamloops Brandenburg Orchestra.
Her rate is $29 per half-hour.

syed md shabaz (Bass Guitar, Guitar, Ukulele)

Shabaz is a passionate musician who has been playing bass guitar for over 16 years.
He was part of several bands in his home country where he wrote, recorded, and performed live concerts, playing plugged and unplugged. Shabaz's favourite music styles include rock & roll, metal, funk, and progressive. He has developed his own techniques and strategies regarding the bass guitar, including the fretboard, scales, and modes. Shabaz enjoys teaching various technical and melodic aspects of playing the bass guitar, such as slapping, tapping, and right-hand techniques.
Shabaz specializes in bass guitar and also teaches guitar & beginner ukulele.
His rate is $28 per half-hour.
