Barry Player (Guitar, Bass Guitar)

Barry G. Player has been playing guitar for over 50 years and has been teaching for the majority of that time. He has been playing professional gigs since the age of 15 and has a love for many different styles of music. Barry has learned in every way he can, including lessons from great players, various books, listening, figuring many things out on his own, as well as attending the Musicians Institute (the Guitar Institute Of Technology) in Los Angeles, Hollywood, California.

Playing in countless bands and being an opening act for bands such as Guns N' Roses, Extreme, Steve Miller, Sass Jordan, Brian Adams, Kim Mitchell, Saga, Robin Trower, Nazareth, Trooper, Harlequin, Streetheart, Night Ranger, and King's X, has been an exciting ride!

Barry's Motto "Teach the student what the student actually wants to play" is something he follows during lessons.

Barry teaches at our Ellice location. His lesson rate is $30 per half hour.

Justin Alcock (Drums, Guitar, Bass Guitar)

Receiving his undergrad through Brandon University’s jazz program, Justin is an accomplished drummer, bassist, and guitarist, having studied as a bass major while also studying drums under BU’s Prof. Eric Platz. For the past fifteen years he has been an in-demand musician in a wide variety of styles and genres, working within Winnipeg as a live/session drummer, and touring across Canada, Europe, and the US. Justin’s private teaching experience began during his undergrad, including five years as a musical director and individual instructor through Winnipeg’s School of Rock.

Justin teaches at our Ellice location, and his rate is $30 per half hour.

Michelle Anderson (Guitar, Bass Guitar, Ukulele)

Michelle has a bachelor’s degree in music from the University of Manitoba and has been teaching, performing and recording for over 15 years. She studied classical guitar from a young age, and has since broadened her styles and techniques to include Folk/Roots and Pop/Rock. She has been playing the banjo professionally for over ten years with a focus on the clawhammer technique.

Over the years, Michelle has been performing, writing and recording with various musical groups from Winnipeg, the most prominent being the award winning group Sweet Alibi.

Michelle teaches at our Ellice location, and her rate is $30 per half hour.

Mike Swickis (Guitar, Bass Guitar, Ukulele)

Mike is a seasoned guitarist and teacher and plays a variety of styles from Rock and Metal to Blues, Pop and Jazz. Mike began his musical journey with Rock guitar and later went on to earn his BA in Music from St FX University in Nova Scotia. Soon after Mike earned his B.Ed from Western University in London Ontario and after graduation went on to work as both a sideman and a leader in Jazz and Show bands on cruise ships for Royal Caribbean, Cunard and Princess.

Mike applied his knowledge and experience as a the author of nine lessons / articles for the international publication Guitar Player magazine and he has also given clinics at the University of Manitoba and The Mid Ocean School of Recording. As a pit musician he has performed locally in musical theatre productions of Jesus Christ Superstar, Frozen, Mama Mia, Grease, Jagged Little Pill, 9 to 5 and Smokey Joe’s Cafe.

In 2020 Mike earned a masters degree from McGill University in Jazz Performance and he continues to perform in and around Winnipeg in addition to teaching guitar and music in public schools.

Mike teaches at our Ellice location, and his rate is $32 per half hour.
