Welcome to L&M Moncton's Lesson Centre! We have two locations: one at the L&M Moncton store on 245 Carson Drive, and one at the Dieppe Arts & Culture Centre on 331 avenue Acadie, in Dieppe. Alain Savoie is a composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist with a background in piano, guitar, and electronic music. He has been releasing music since 2001 and composing for film and television since 2008. Originally from Quebec City and raised in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Alain began his musical journey at the age of seven studying classical piano. He later earned a Grade 8 Certificate with Honors from the Royal Conservatory of Music. Over the years, he expanded his musicianship to include guitar, composition, and music production. In addition to his work composing for film, television, and commercials, Alain enjoys sharing his knowledge and passion for music through teaching. His lessons focus on building strong fundamentals while encouraging creativity, helping students develop both technical skill and musical expression. With a diverse musical background and professional experience in the industry, Alain works with students of all levels, offering personalized guidance tailored to each student’s goals and interests. His rate is $29 per half-hour lesson.

Claude obtained a Bachelor of Music in Performance in 1986 from University of Moncton on the classical guitar. He has taught guitar with University of Moncton’s music department, at Moncton Music Centre, La Guitare, and Walter’s Music in Mississauga, ON. Claude is well-versed in classical guitar technique and various finger style guitar playing, such as Mark Knopfler, James Taylor, John Mayer, and Keb’ Mo’. He is also confident in pop, blues, and jazz. With Claude, you will get the most with your journey on guitar with the basics to complex chords, functional guitar theory, and guitar care and maintenance. His rate is $27 per half-hour lesson.

David was born in Cherbourg, France, and began playing guitar at the age of 14 under the influence of his first teacher, Daniel Cordhomme. At 16, he took Stéphane Fleury's jazz class and enrolled at the municipal music school with Fabrice Paris. After three years of classical guitar studies, he graduated with honors. Wishing to evolve musically, he moved to Paris to perfect his skills in the theory and practice of modern music at the American Jazz School, where he took guitar lessons with Mike O'Neil. The following year, he met Sammy Daussat, with whom he learned gypsy guitar. At the age of 27, he joined the class of Mariapina Roberti (international concert artist), who opened up new musical horizons for him, and with whom he organized a duo concert. David has also performed on Parisian stages such as the Café de Paris and the Chat Noir. His rate is $26 per half-hour for private lessons.

Ekaterina started playing the cello at the age of 8. She became an award winning cellist at the young age of 14 when her trio won second place at the international chamber competition “Concertino Praga”. Ekaterina began her teaching career a year later when she was 15. Ekaterina completed her Bachelor’s degree in performance and music education from Belarus Academy of Music and Sarajevo Academy of Music, and went on to complete her Master’s Degree in performance and music education from Belarus Academy of Music. She also holds a Teacher Certificate of Recognition from RCM. Along with teaching, Ekaterina has performed with many orchestra’s such as the Belarus Symphony Orchestra, National Concert Orchestra, Sarajevo Symphony, and others. Ekaterina has been living in New Brunswick since 2011 and has been teaching and performing in the Greater Moncton Area ever since. She has taught all ages and levels, and enjoys having her students participate in the Moncton Music Festival. Her rate is $27 per half-hour lesson.

Jonah Landry (he/him) has been involved in and has shown his passion for the local music scene ever since he can remember. Whether it’s playing rock/folk drums in John Jerome and the Congregation (Moncton) or fast double bass techniques in Necrohol (Halifax), he has the tools to teach many genres across the board such as pop, rock, folk, metal, and introductory blues and jazz. When he’s not teaching or playing locally, you can find him working on local music videos (nominated for 4 MusicNB Video of the Year Awards) and working behind his camera! Jonah’s goal is to give back to the local music scene that has given so much to him growing up.

Nhat-Viet (Toto) Phi began playing solo piano at age six, and has enjoyed a long history of success in Canadian music festivals starting even before his national first prize at age eleven. In addition to headlining with several Canadian orchestras and chamber music with his brothers, he has been praised for his wide-ranging collaborative talents across the nation in vocal, choral, string, woodwind, brass and percussion disciplines. From 2007-2019, Toto was the official accompanist for the University of Moncton music department. Since 1990, Mr. Phi has enjoyed teaching piano privately for all ages and all levels including ARCT, in English and French.
His rate is $26 per half-hour lesson.

Since picking up his first guitar at the age of 8, Nicholas' love for music began and never stopped! He has always sought knowledge on composition, theory, and technical skills for each instrument he plays, and for all genres that interests him. With Nick's teaching, he always strives to spark the same love of music as he has. Nick has played multiple shows since the age of sixteen, and actively participates in many bands and projects, all expressing his love for all genres and styles. His rates are $26 per half-hour lesson.

Sandra has been teaching since 2012. She teaches classical as well as traditional (fiddle, various styles), but is open to any style that can be accommodated within the curriculum and the students’ current level. Her musical journey took her from classical training in Germany to playing traditional music after moving to Canada in 2001, where she developed a great love for Cape Breton and Appalachian Oldtime music. By now, fiddle playing and classical are both integral part of her musical life. Her rates are $26 per half-hour private lesson.

Sharona calls herself a “classically-trained pop pianist”, possessing equal passion for classical music and a natural affinity for popular music. She is a singer-songwriter and performer, having played in bands and solo, produced albums and received nominations for music awards in her home province of Newfoundland (where she received her Bachelor of Music Education degree). She has over 30 years’ teaching experience and is RCM-certified for piano, meaning her students have produced Honors results in the leading piano exam system in Canada. Fun fact - she has composed and published twenty-five modern piano pieces which her students get to play! Her rate is $29 per half-hour lesson.

Yanick earned his Masters degree at Université de Montréal in 2008 specializing in classical guitar. He has been teaching music since 2006 and has always had a great passion for musical education. Yanick has played guitar since the age of 11 and hasn't stopped learning and playing since. His style of music is very global and he is comfortable teaching most music styles. In the classical music category, so far, nine gold medals from the Royal Conservatory of Music have been earned under his guidance. He also got Platinum in Moncton Community Votes 2022 for the Music Lessons category, and “Silver” in the 2023 votes for the Youth Music Lessons category. Yanick will be happy to teach you how to play guitar, bass or ukulele. His rate is $27 per half-hour private lesson.
