Dan Pitt is a graduate of the University of Toronto's Jazz Performance program and is an active musician in Toronto's creative music scene. He enjoys working with musicians and students of all levels and playing and teaching multiple genres. Dan has toured in Canada and the U.S. working with musicians such as Dave Young, Terry Promane, Andrew Downing, Tim Berne, Michael Formanek and Tony Malaby. Dan has studied with Bob Shields, Geoff Young, Ben Monder, Brad Shepik and David Torn. His debut album as a leader was released in October 2019 entitled "Fundamentally Flawed".

Dan's rate is $30.00 per half hour.

Hilandi du Toit is a highly motivated and passionate professional musician and music teacher who relocated from South Africa in 2022. She has vast experience in music composition, arrangement, and performance.
In addition, she is an established singer/songwriter and guitarist (rhythm acoustic, bass), djembe and ukulele player who wants to share the joy that music brings. She is an inspirational and committed teacher who focuses on an individualized curriculum to accommodate all levels of competency. According to her students, her teaching approach ensures an enjoyable and inspirational experience that fosters a love for music while unlocking the individual’s full potential.

Luke has 23 years of experience playing guitar. In addition to having undergone extensive study in Jazz and Classical traditions, he has played in Pop, Blues, Folk, Classic Rock and Metal bands. Keeping in mind that theory, technique and ear training is important, he is always trying to stay in touch with modern music idioms and teach students of all ages and skill levels songs that they know and like. He has studied under and worked with such names as Ted Quinlan, Toni Zorzi, Al Kay, Hilario Duran, Brigham Phillips, John Macleod, Kirk MacDonald & Dave Restivo.

Known for his excellent musicality and virtuosity, Scott Jolicoeur is a guitarist based out of Toronto, ON, who is quickly becoming one of Canada’s renowned classical guitarists. With his distinctive sound and six years of teaching experience, Scott has played and taught many styles including Rock/Metal, Blues, Country, Jazz, and most notably Classical. He also teaches music theory and composition.
Scott has studied with many great guitarists including Dr. Ian Hodges in Winnipeg, as well as Jorge Caballero and Rob Macdonald at the University of Toronto. Currently, he studies with Dr. Jeffrey McFadden at the University of Toronto. From his studies, Scott has developed a well-refined and unique pedagogical method for teaching the classical guitar. Recently, Scott won the France-Canada Cultural Exchange Experience France Award. This award went towards a short term residency in France, where Scott studied with legendary classical guitarist Judicaël Perroy. Scott also participated in René Izquierdo’s program “El Camino” in Carrión de los Condes in Northern Spain. Scott has participated in Competitions in Canada and the United States. As a teenager, he earned first place in the open division (ARCT and above), at the Ontario Music Festivals Association Provincial Competition. Scott Jolicoeur is a well-rounded young professional and continues to help students of all age groups reach their goals.

B. Mus Jazz Studies (Capilano University)

Tak Arikushi is a seasoned instructor with 18 years of experience and a Jazz Studies degree from Capilano College. He moved from Vancouver to Toronto in 2013 and has since been an in-demand musician in the jazz scene. He teaches students, young and old, from beginners to advanced, and in a variety of musical genres, with a holistic approach that includes instrumental technique, aural skills, repertoire, and most importantly fun! With his methods he helps students learn their favourite songs, overcome performance anxiety, and even start a band. Outside of teaching, Tak performs regularly in Toronto and some of his career highlights include recording music for the popular Cuphead video game series, performing at the National Arts Centre (Dear Canada, Letters from the Second World War), and playing for Geddy Lee’s (Rush) mother’s 90th birthday.

Tak's rate is $30.00 per half hour.

It's Never Too Early to Enjoy Music!

Your child will join teacher Ana Koutsouzian and four other young beginners for some very fun weekly lessons. Students will gain familiarity with a variety of musical instruments, learn songs especially chosen for them, explore introductory music theory concepts and will be taught creative movement with different dance elements.

This unique program will not only teach the beauty of music but will also build your child's self-confidence, strong communication skills and have a great impact on cognitive performance. Our students will have opportunities to perform in Danforth's student recitals. After completing this introductory program, students will be ready to take private lessons on piano and/ or voice, as well as other musical instruments of their choice at L&M Danforth.

Students ages 4-7 are welcome to register. Class size is 5 students. Sessions are weekly on Thursdays from 4-5pm and 5:30-6:30pm. Terms are September to December, January to March, April to June, and July to August. Students are welcome to enroll for one single term or to continue until they reach the age of 8.
