Alexandra Summach, originally from Dodsland, Saskatchewan, embarked on her musical journey at the age of 7. She has her RCM Grade 8 in piano and theory. She is currently working towards a Bachelor of Music at the University of Regina. Alexandra is passionate about music theory and the history of composition. She also brings a wealth of tutoring experience to her teaching repertoire. She is a dedicated educator with a mission to instill a profound appreciation for the intricacies of theory and composition in the hearts and minds of her students. Alexandra teaches both video and in-studio piano lessons at the Regina store. Her rate is $25 per half-hour.

Anthony Merkel is a student at the University of Regina, currently working on his Bachelor of Music in Tuba Performance. He started playing tuba at the age of 12, and has enjoyed participating in both community and university ensembles locally while also taking part in educational tuba institutes with top teachers of the continent and honor groups around the country. His main interests are symphonic tuba, modern solos, discovering effective fundamental routines, and occasionally jazz performance on both trombone and tuba. Aside from tuba, he also has a wide range of musical experience, including regularly singing in RSO choral concerts, achieving his Grade 9 RCM certificate in Piano, travelling the states in a barbershop chorus, and working at the university as an assistant marker for Theory I-IV. Anthony teaches brass (Wednesdays) and piano (Sundays) at the Regina store. His lesson rate is $25 per half-hour.

Archer Schick (he/him) has shown a passion for music since a very early age. He began taking drum lessons at Long & McQuade at the age of six. After enrolling in the Rock Skool program at Long & McQuade, he developed a love for performance. Archer is currently in grade 11 where he is a part of his school’s concert and jazz bands. He is well-versed in rock, metal, funk, Latin, and many other styles. He is currently studying jazz. In 2023, he was selected for the Saskatchewan Band Association’s Honour Jazz Band. Archer’s teaching methods focus on the interests of the student while encouraging creativity, and aim to develop proper technique, a good ear, an understand of music theory, and a wide-ranging musical vocabulary. Archer teaches at the Regina store. His rate is $25 per half-hour.

Avery Hesse (she/her) has been a student of Long and McQuade for over ten years. She has been studying piano for many years and holds her RCM level 8 for piano and theory. Avery enjoys a wide range of classical repertoire as well as more contemporary styles of music from video games, movies, and various internet media. She also enjoys popular music along with arranging.
Avery has consistently participated in recitals and music festivals during her piano studies. She looks forward to sharing her enjoyment of music with her students.

Avery is currently offering online video lessons for the Regina store, and will be returning to in-person lessons as of July. Her rate is $25 per half hour.

Brenda Stettner is a certified elementary and intermediate specialist through the Royal Conservatory of Music. She has been teaching piano, organ, and guitar since 1980. Brenda has experience with MIDI and multi-track recording, she composes and arranges music for herself and her students, and she prepares students for Royal Conservatory examinations and music festivals. Brenda believes in continuous learning and professional development, and is always looking for new ways to teach concepts in private lessons and master classes. Her unique teaching approach has motivated students to become teachers, recording artists, composers, and to generally enjoy making music. Brenda’s students benefit from her lineage, a 3rd generation student of Beethoven. Brenda teaches piano at the Regina store.

Cora Lockert began singing lessons at the Conservatory of Performing Arts at the age of seven years old, participating in their Juventus Choir program. Cora has obtained high levels of RCM. Cora has been trained in classical, opera and musical theater and also has experience singing pop, rock, and jazz. Cora has performed in many recitals, Regina Music Festival, and Auditioned Scholarships during her time at the Conservatory. Cora attended Balfour Collegiate and was accepted into the Balfour Arts Collective program for grades 11 and 12, where she was cast as Dragon in their production of Shrek the Musical. Cora has worked with children in the performing arts for a number of years, as a dance instructor, a volunteer and assistant for the performing arts camps at the Regina Conservatory, and currently working as an assistant for the Senior and Advanced Glee programs at the Conservatory. She also participates weekly in the Long & McQuade Rock Band program singing in three bands. Cora loves singing and music and can’t wait to pass along her love of music to others. Cora teaches voice lessons online and at the Regina store. Her rate is $25 per half hour.

Dennon Jonasson (he/him) has been playing guitar and honing in on his technique since the age of seven. He has played in several local bands throughout the city, and is currently working on a solo guitar rock project. Dennon can offer both his guitar and bass students a wide range of material including basic chord progressions and scale positions and advanced virtuoso-esque styles. Whether it's country, rock, metal, blues, funk, pop, or punk, he is eager to bring knowledge to anyone willing to have fun and learn! Dennon teaches guitar, bass and ukulele at the Regina store. Ellen is passionate about Shinichi Suzuki's vision: that every child deserves an arts-rich education and the opportunity to study and play music, and that through the study of music children build noble character, self-esteem, and lifelong enrichment. Jack Dublanica has a BA in Theory and Music History and has been playing the banjo and fiddle for over 30 years. He started teaching in 1995 and has experience teaching all ages of students in both private and group lessons. Jack has played with bluegrass/folk and bluegrass/country bands, including Home Brood, Citybilly, and Cactus Jack and the Rounders. He has performed at the Regina Folk Festival and The Big Valley Jamboree. He is currently a member of Binder Twine and the Bales. Joelle Nielsen started playing the clarinet 20 years ago, achieving her B.Mus in performance from Brandon University in 2014. During that time she has played with National youth band, pit ensembles for musical theatre productions, and as part of small ensembles that performed with the WSO’s pre-concert series and at ICA’s Clarinet Festival, as well as competing Nationally as part of a chamber group. Joelle has been teaching woodwind clinics in Manitoba and Saskatchewan since 2009, and started teaching privately in Northeast Saskatchewan in 2018. Joelle teaches woodwinds at the Regina store. Johnny Javier (he/him) is a versatile musician with years of experience performing and teaching music. He graduated from Edmonton's MacEwan University with a Diploma in Music, majoring in Composition. During his studies, he worked on skills such as sight-reading, ear-training, theory, composition and performance. He has performed in music festivals, cafes and corporate events as part of a group and as a solo performer.

Besides music, his other passion in life is travelling. During his two years of travelling Australia, he taught music and performed with musicians from different countries and cultures. His fondest memory from his time down under was busking on the city streets and performing in open mic nights with his travel mates.

Joshua Tumala's musical journey began at a young age when he was first introduced to music by his family, which led him to develop a keen interest in all kinds of music. Joshua enjoys learning and teaching classical music, jazz, contemporary and video game pieces, music from different countries around the world, and adding his own touch to music through arranging. Joshua holds an RCM level 8 in piano, was a past Gold Medal recipient (highest mark in the province), and continues to expand on his practical and theoretical knowledge. After starting as a substitute teacher with long & McQuade, Joshua has joined our team on a regular basis, becoming a highly sought-after instructor. He was nominated for a Saskatchewan Music Award for The Best Heavy Metal Album with his current band, Dream Creeps. Teaching is a passion of Matt’s. He enjoys the art of it and sharing his love of music with his students. He is trained in and has studied several aspects of music. His lessons involve a mixture of all styles. Nina Maxwell (she/her) is a Royal Conservatory of Music Certified teacher for elementary and intermediate piano. She holds her Grade 9 Piano, and Theory and History/Harmony Grades 9 and 10 with the Royal Conservatory of Music. She continues to expand her knowledge and credentials and is currently studying for her Grade 10 Piano and Elementary Piano Pedagogy through the RCM.

Nina has over thirty years of teaching experience with students ranging from the very young to retired seniors. Her specialties include exam preparation (classical, popular, and theoretical) and helping special needs students to achieve success. Nina is listed as a recommended teacher for special needs children with the Autism Resource Centre in Regina. Over the years, many of Nina's students have received outstanding marks on examinations and music festivals, including for a recent Royal Conservatory practical examination session, several Distinction and First Class Honors results, and 2 gold medal winners for the highest mark in the province! Nina has also attended many workshops and seminars on handling stress and uses the Brain Gym techniques as additional learning tools. She is also the accompanist for the Circle of Friends Ladies Choir.
