Beau Stocker (Drums, Theory)

Beau Stocker is a versatile drummer and educator based in the Comox Valley, BC. With over 30 years of musical study and performance experience, his journey began in Ontario at Humber College and York University (Toronto) and continued in the United Kingdom, where he earned an MA in Improvised Music and Jazz and a PhD in Music Performance from the University of York. His doctoral research explored the fusion of East African rhythmic traditions with improvised music composition—an influence that informs both his teaching and his performance practice. As a performer, he has performed across Canada and internationally in Europe, UK, and East Africa, and is currently a regular performer in various musical projects in the Comox Valley BC. As an educator, Beau has worked as a Music Specialist in private schools across Toronto, the United Kingdom, and Sudan, and has lectured at universities in both Sudan and the UK. He developed a 5 year percussion degree program for the Sudan University and has more recently brought his expertise to British Columbia, where he creates and facilitates music workshops for students and community groups. Beau's lesson rate is $35.00 per half hour lesson.

Tavis Weir has lived and breathed music since he was old enough to walk. He grew up in a diverse musical family, gave his first concert at age 8 and never looked back. He attended the University of Toronto for Jazz guitar and has toured across Canada with many artists as well as to support his solo album. His passions are songwriting and recording; improvisation and sound exploration; as well as guiding others on their journey into the life changing power of music. He has been teaching people from all walks of life for the past 15 years. Tavis firmly believes music is available to everyone and inspiration can come from anywhere. Lesson rate $33 per half hour lesson.
