Find qualified music teachers at St. John’s largest music lesson centre! Conveniently located on the west end of Kenmount Road, we offer quality musical instruction for all skill levels on a variety of instruments! We specialize in all styles of music, from rock and pop to classical and even traditional fiddle and accordion, unique to our Newfoundland heritage! Our outstanding teachers provide a comfortable environment for guitar lessons, piano lessons, whatever your interest may be! Open Monday to Friday, 10am to 9pm and Saturdays 9am to 5pm, we offer flexible scheduling in our 14 well-equipped studios. There are no registration fees for lessons and no commitment is required! We also provide recitals twice yearly free of charge for all students, friends and family! Aaron Collis - Button Accordion, Mandolin music lessons in St. John

Aaron Collis (Button Accordion, Mandolin)

A multi-instrumentalist from Appleton, Newfoundland, Aaron Collis is best known as the accordion player for The Dardanelles. Since 2009, he has performed with the group throughout Canada, the U.S, and as far afield as the U.K and Australia. The group’s sophomore album, The Eastern Light, garnered them a Music NL Award for Celtic/Traditional Artist of the Year in 2012. Aaron’s album with fiddler Emilia Bartellas earned the duo the Celtic/Traditional Recording of the Year at the 2014 Music NL Awards and in 2015 his project with Duane Andrews, entitled the Mallard Cottage Sessions, took the same award. Aaron continues to perform with a wide range of artists and is sought after as a session musician and music instructor. Aaron’s rate is $24 per half hour private lesson.

Alanna Fitzpatrick - Voice music lessons in St. John

Alanna Fitzpatrick (Voice)

Alanna Fitzpatrick teaches voice lessons to male and female students ages 5 to adult. She works with a broad range of music repertoire and a variety of styles to suit the individual needs of the student. Alanna studied voice and completed studies in music and music education at Memorial University, and is currently active as a singer and an instrumentalist. For the past decade, she has been a private voice instructor as well as a music educator in the school system within the St. John's area. She has vast experience with choral singing through membership and work with Shallaway and is a founding member of Lady Cove Women's Choir. Alanna’s rate is $24 per half hour private lesson.

Amanda Earle - Flute music lessons in St. John

Amanda Earle (Flute)

Amanda graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Special Education. She completed her Bachelor of Education (Primary/Elementary) with a minor in Music in 2011 from Memorial University and is employed with the Newfoundland and Labrador English School district Amanda has been playing flute since 1997 and is the primary flute player with the Conception Bay South Concert Band. She is the band director with 807 Air Cadet Squadron and has been running the band program since 2004. During her summers she is employed with the Canadian Forces, where she is Second in Command of the Music Training Company. She has been teaching flute at Long & McQuade since 2012. Clayton Saunders (Drums, Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Banjo, Mandolin, Piano)

Clayton Saunders is a composer, performer, and private music teacher from Grand Falls-Windsor who studied jazz guitar at McMaster University. Since moving back to Newfoundland, Clayton has played music all across the island with multiple groups including international artists such as Chris Kirby, Matthew Hornell, Brad Jefford and The Once. He has also been in multiple tribute concerts, such as The David Bowie Tribute Show (guitar), The 20th Anniversary Tribute of Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill (guitar), a John Prine Tribute (drums), and a Tragically Hip Tribute (drums). Clayton currently teaches guitar, bass, mandolin, ukulele, piano, drums (kit) and auxiliary percussion and has been teaching since 2003. Clayton’s rate is $24 per half hour private lesson.

Colin Mackey - voice music lessons in St. John

Colin is pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from Memorial University, studying voice under E. Mark Murphy and Dr. Caroline Schiller. Colin started his music education as a member of Shallaway Youth Choir, in addition to this Colin represented Newfoundland and Labrador in the 2016 National Youth Choir of Canada. Most recently Colin has been featured in performances with the MUN Opera Workshop Program as well as the Halifax Summer Opera Festival. Coleen has a Bachelor of Music in Education and a Bachelor of Education from St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Damien studied at the Conservatoire de Saintes and has a degree from the Music International of Nancy. Damien has played with the finalist of the French version of The Voice, has toured Europe with several bands, and has written and performed music for a CBC documentary. He teaches guitar, electric bass, ukulele, and the Senior Jam class; Damien has also published two books! He has been teaching music since 1997 (Damien donne des lessons en Français également). Damien also teaches our Friday Jam Class as well as workshop classes that focus on Groove, Rhythm, Musical genres, Music history, Music Theory, Composition, Musical arrangements and Group work. Frank Fusari teaches electric and double bass as well as piano accordion. Jeff has been writing and performing music for over forty years. His formal music education includes jazz studies at the Banff School of Fine Arts, and vocal studies at the University of Toronto. Jeff has performed and recorded with folk, rock, R&B, and jazz bands, and is currently performing in four local groups. Jeff has been teaching guitar and vocals since 1980. Jenny completed her Bachelor of Music with Honours in 2015 and is currently a student of the Bachelor of Music Education program. She has worked as the assistant coordinator for Memorial University's High School Honour Band & Junior Band Week programs. She has also worked for 4 summers with Gros Morne Summer Music on the West Coast as a saxophone performer, assistant stage manager, head of props and costumes, and youth ensemble coordinator. Jordan Mills - Saxophone, Clarinet and Piano music lessons in St. John

Jordan Mills (Saxophone, Clarinet and Piano)

Jordan is from Campbellton, a small community on the north-eastern coast of Newfoundland. He completed his Bachelor of Music at Memorial University and is currently working on his Bachelor of Music Education degree. Jordan conducts youth bands in both the Canadian Cadet Organization and the Salvation Army, and runs a community Youth Band Program which sees over 60 students each week. This work has earned him several teaching opportunities at summer music seminars in both Newfoundland and Ontario. Most recently, he was awarded a grant to travel to Pasadena, California to participate in the Tournament of Roses Parade. His passion for instrumental and ensemble music has led him to develop a versatility on low brass instruments and the piano, in addition to his study of the saxophone. Jordan’s rate is $23 per half hour private lesson.

Katharine Nuotio-Trimm is a 4th year voice major studying under Dr. Jane Leibel. Katharine is an avid member of both the Memorial University Festival and Chamber choir and has been featured in their performances. In addition to her work as a performer, she is also a dedicated teacher and volunteer. In 2014, Katharine founded the Grand Falls Windsor "Creative Arts Program”. As a dedicated teacher, her students have been featured in the Kiwanis Music Festival and provincial musical productions such as The Sound Of Music (Mokami Players) and A Gift To Last (Northcliffe Drama). Matt Hender has a Bachelor of Music from Memorial University and has been involved in the local music scene for almost 10 years. He currently plays with multiple MusicNL and ECMA nominated rock band Long Distance Runners, Newfoundland’s bluegrass band, Crooked Stovepipe, and the Greek music group, The Forgotten Bouzouki. He has performed with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, Jazz East, the Klezmer group, The B’ys in the Shtetl, as well as playing bass on Amelia Curran’s Juno winning album, Hunter, Hunter. Matthew Glover is a multi instrumentalist with 25+ years professional experience. Originally from Newfoundland, the musical path brought Matthew to Boston in 1989 where he studied at Berklee College of Music and graduated in 1993 with a BMus majoring in guitar performance. Matthew has performed and recorded extensively in the Boston area and Internationally, and has taught in numerous venues over the years. Matthew's rate is $24 per half hour private lesson.

Natalie is a violinist from Carbonear, Newfoundland studying performance at Memorial University’s School of Music under Professor Nancy Dahn. She previously studied violin with Nancy Case-Oates and piano with Marcia O’Neill. Natalie has participated in many festivals including the Kiwanis Music Festival and the Tuckamore Chamber Music Festival, and performs with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, the Memorial University Chamber Orchestra, and Opera on the Avalon. She also loves to play in smaller chamber groups around the city. Natalie has experience teaching students of varying age groups and levels, and also enjoys teaching fiddle. She plans to continue on to the graduate level after completing her bachelor’s degree at Memorial. Natalie’s rate is $24 per half hour private lesson.

Rioko graduated from Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo with a Bachelor Degree in Music and she also has a Diploma in Advanced Piano Performance from Concordia University in Montreal. Rioko has played recitals in Japan and Canada, accompanied many singers and instrumentalists, and she has been teaching piano, the rudiments of theory, harmony and the history of music for over twenty years. Steve is a composer, performer and private teacher from Baie Verte, Newfoundland. He has been teaching for 15+ years. Steve studied classical and jazz guitar as well as jazz bass at Acadia University, earning his degree in Classical Guitar Performance. He has worked extensively with theatre, as musical director for Essence of Newfoundland, composer for Spirit of Newfoundland, and musical director/arranger for 2 years for the 24 Hour Play, a charity production that sees artists prepare and perform a full length musical in 24 hours. As a solo instrumentalist he specializes in modern fingerstyle guitar. His music has been featured on television, including a segment on MTV Live, and he is currently finishing work on his debut album. Steve has played in a variety of groups, including classic rock/metal cover bands, country groups, jazz ensembles, and punk bands. He teaches electric, acoustic and classical guitar, bass, banjo, ukulele, and mandolin, as well as theory, composition/songwriting, and improvisation for all pitched instruments. His students have had success in Kiwanis festivals, and have recieved Gold Medal honors in Royal Conservatory exams. His rate is $24 per half hour.

Tony Tucker - Drums, Hand Drums music lessons in St. John

Tony is a percussionist from St. John's who started playing the drum kit at the age of 10. He is well versed in many styles including rock, traditional, folk, flamenco, West African, Middle-Eastern, and Latin percussion. He’s recorded and toured with several bands including ECMA nominees The Danette Eddy Band and Potbelly, and has performed around the world with Guinean percussion group Fola. Tony's passion for West African music has led him to study under master djembe players Famoudou Konate, Mohamed Kalifa Kamara, Mamady Keita and M'Bemba Bangoura. Tony has also performed with the ECMA winners El Viento Flamenco (Roots/Traditional Recording of the Year, 2007) at many festivals including the PEI Folk and Jazz Festival, The Atlantic Film Festival and the prestigious Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival. Tony’s rate is $23 per half hour private lesson.
