Chris Davis - Lessons Coordinator

In addition to receiving his Bachelor of Music degree from Memorial University in classical double bass, Chris has studied jazz at Humber College in Toronto and at the Bass Collective in New York City, under the tutelage of Mike Downes, Paco Luviano, Lincoln Goines, and Dr. Nathan Cook. His travels as a musician have seen him perform in Orlando, London, Hiroshima, and Beaumont-Hamel - but St. John’s is still home. He has extensive studio experience and has performed with groups such as the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, Florian Hoefner Trio, Havana to Canada, and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. After working in L&M St. John’s’ band department for several years, he is honored to take on the role of Lessons Coordinator.

Conveniently located on the west end of Kenmount Road, we offer quality musical instruction for all skill levels on a variety of instruments! We specialize in all styles of music, from rock and pop to classical and even traditional fiddle and accordion, unique to our Newfoundland heritage! Our outstanding teachers provide a comfortable environment for guitar lessons, piano lessons, whatever your interest may be! Open Monday to Friday, 10am to 9pm and Saturdays 9am to 5pm, we offer flexible scheduling in our 14 well-equipped studios. There are no registration fees for lessons and no commitment is required! We also provide recitals twice yearly free of charge for all students, friends and family! Clayton Saunders is a composer, performer, and private music teacher from Grand Falls-Windsor who studied jazz guitar at McMaster University. Since moving back to Newfoundland, Clayton has played music all across the island with multiple groups including international artists such as Chris Kirby, Matthew Hornell, Brad Jefford and The Once. He has also been in multiple tribute concerts, such as The David Bowie Tribute Show (guitar), The 20th Anniversary Tribute of Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill (guitar), a John Prine Tribute (drums), and a Tragically Hip Tribute (drums). Clayton currently teaches guitar, bass, mandolin, ukulele, piano, drums (kit) and auxiliary percussion and has been teaching since 2003. Clayton’s rate is $24 per half hour lesson.

Colleen possesses Bachelor of Music in Education and Bachelor of Education degrees from St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Frank Fusari teaches electric and double bass as well as piano accordion. His teaching and performing experience includes school concerts and workshops for all ages, principal bass with the NSO, Atlantic String Quartet, Shallaway, Spirit of Newfoundland, the opera “Ann and Seamus”, as well as playing with Pat Boyle, Sandy Morris, Sean Panting, and Duane Andrews. Katharine Nuotio-Trimm is a 4th year voice major studying under Dr. Jane Leibel. Katharine is an avid member of both the Memorial University Festival and Chamber choir and has been featured in their performances. In addition to her work as a performer, she is also a dedicated teacher and volunteer. In 2014, Katharine founded the Grand Falls Windsor "Creative Arts Program”. As a dedicated teacher, her students have been featured in the Kiwanis Music Festival and provincial musical productions such as The Sound Of Music (Mokami Players) and A Gift To Last (Northcliffe Drama). Savanna Muscat was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario. She completed her B. Mus in Euphonium and Classical Voice at the University of Windsor and is currently pursuing her M. Mus at Memorial University in Newfoundland. During her music journey, she started teaching privately and in the school system in piano, voice, and brass. Aside from her teaching career, she is an avid performer, both in the instrumental and choral world. Performance highlights include singing in the Symphony Chorus alongside the Windsor Symphony Orchestra to perform in many masterworks and operas; touring with Mid-America Productions to perform at Carnegie Hall; playing lead trumpet in local Broadway productions; and playing alongside Windsor Symphony Orchestra. She is eager to continue her teaching career here in St. John's. Savanna's rate is $24 per half hour lesson.

Shae-Lynn is a recent graduate of the Bachelor of Music program at Memorial University where she studied under Dr. Nancy Dahn, and Jennifer Johnson. She is a violinist, pianist, and flautist from Clarenville, Newfoundland who began her music studies at the age of five. The piano was her first instrument and lessons on the violin and flute followed shortly after. Since then she has continued to learn new instruments and use them to write and record songs. Shae-Lynn has been performing in the Kiwanis Music Festival of Clarenville since the age of six years old. She has been a member of the MUN Chamber Orchestra, as well as small chamber ensembles since she began her studies in 2016. In 2018, she was accepted as a new member of the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, where she has had the opportunity to play with professional musicians. Shae-Lynn's rate is $23 per half hour lesson.

Shane Tetford is from a small town named Laurenceton, located in central Newfoundland. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in piano performance at Memorial University, studying with Timothy Steeves. He also holds a Bachelor of Music (Honours) from Memorial, with a major in performance and a minor in composition. During this time, he studied piano with Dr. Phil Roberts and Dr. Kristina Szutor, and composition with Dr. Andrew Staniland and Dr. Clark Ross. Shane has been an active participant in the Kiwanis Music Festival over the years and has won numerous awards. He has also worked with such groups as the Cantus Vocum Chamber Choir and has participated in the Tuckamore Chamber Music Festival here in St. John’s. Already an experienced teacher and collaborator, he continues to explore new approaches and is open to working with students from all backgrounds. Shane’s rate is $25 per half hour lesson.
