Chris Davis - Lessons Coordinator

In addition to receiving his Bachelor of Music degree from Memorial University in classical double bass, Chris has studied jazz at Humber College in Toronto and at the Bass Collective in New York City, under the tutelage of Mike Downes, Paco Luviano, Lincoln Goines, and Dr. Nathan Cook. His travels as a musician have seen him perform in Orlando, London, Hiroshima, and Beaumont-Hamel - but St. John’s is still home. He has extensive studio experience and has performed with groups such as the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, Florian Hoefner Trio, Havana to Canada, and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. After working in L&M St. John’s’ band department for several years, he is honored to take on the role of Lessons Coordinator.

Conveniently located on the west end of Kenmount Road, we offer quality musical instruction for all skill levels on a variety of instruments! We specialize in all styles of music, from rock and pop to classical and even traditional fiddle and accordion, unique to our Newfoundland heritage! Our outstanding teachers provide a comfortable environment for guitar lessons, piano lessons, whatever your interest may be! Open Monday to Friday, 10am to 9pm and Saturdays 9am to 5pm, we offer flexible scheduling in our 14 well-equipped studios. There are no registration fees for lessons and no commitment is required! We also provide recitals twice yearly free of charge for all students, friends and family! Jeff Dyer - Guitar, Voice music lessons in St. John

Jeff has been writing and performing music for over forty years. His formal music education includes jazz studies at the Banff School of Fine Arts, and vocal studies at the University of Toronto. Jeff has performed and recorded with folk, rock, R&B, and jazz bands, and is currently performing in four local groups. Jeff has been teaching guitar and vocals since 1980. Jeff’s rate is $25 per half hour lesson.

Katharine Nuotio-Trimm is a 4th year voice major studying under Dr. Jane Leibel. Katharine is an avid member of both the Memorial University Festival and Chamber choir and has been featured in their performances. In addition to her work as a performer, she is also a dedicated teacher and volunteer. In 2014, Katharine founded the Grand Falls Windsor "Creative Arts Program”. As a dedicated teacher, her students have been featured in the Kiwanis Music Festival and provincial musical productions such as The Sound Of Music (Mokami Players) and A Gift To Last (Northcliffe Drama). Katherine's rate is $23 per half hour lesson.

Laura Johnston has worked as educator for 15 years. She is a lyric soprano and has directed numerous school choirs and musicals. Laura believes music and singing are for everyone and has taught children and adults from varying musical backgrounds and experiences.

She is a graduate of Mount Saint Vincent University (M. Ed.) and Acadia University (B. Ed., B. Mus.) and is currently a student at MUN (M. Mus.) in Voice Performance/Pedagogy. Laura is also an Orff Specialist and completed her Orff Level III training in 2017 at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.

A promoter of music education programs for both adults and youth, Laura is the former Education Director with Opera Nova Scotia. With the Nova Scotia chapter of Carl Orff Canada, she has been a clinician, conductor, and event organizer. Active as a performer, recent roles include Casilda in Opera Nova Scotia's production of The Gondoliers and the role of Duchess in Memorial University's production of William Todd's opera Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Laura's rate is $25 per half hour lesson.

Savanna Muscat - Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium, Voice, Piano music lessons in St. John

Savanna Muscat was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario. She completed her B. Mus in Euphonium and Classical Voice at the University of Windsor and is currently pursuing her M. Mus at Memorial University in Newfoundland. During her music journey, she started teaching privately and in the school system in piano, voice, and brass. Aside from her teaching career, she is an avid performer, both in the instrumental and choral world. Performance highlights include singing in the Symphony Chorus alongside the Windsor Symphony Orchestra to perform in many masterworks and operas; touring with Mid-America Productions to perform at Carnegie Hall; playing lead trumpet in local Broadway productions; and playing alongside Windsor Symphony Orchestra. She is eager to continue her teaching career here in St. John's. Savanna's rate is $24 per half hour lesson.
