Talented pianist and multi-instrumentalist, Leanne Dalke (they/them) began studying music at the age of 4 and was instantly hooked. A native of Morden, MB, as a youth Leanne took every opportunity they could to perform in local festivals, honour bands, choirs, and community spaces, fostering their love for performance and collaboration.
Leanne holds a Bachelor of Music, Honours Specialization in Music History from Western University in London, Ontario. While studying, Leanne published an essay in academic music journal Nota Bene, as well as performed the chorale in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony as a member of the Western University Singers, with London, Ontario’s professional orchestra, Orchestra London.
Returning to their Manitoba roots, Leanne moved to Winnipeg in 2021 and has become deeply invested in the local music scene, collaborating with a variety of musicians, from choirs to handbells to a grassroots marching band. Leanne enjoys playing flute in the Canadian Mennonite University Community band, which they joined in 2023. Leanne had the opportunity to perform as guest collaborative pianist with the Rainbow Harmony Project Youth Choir at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights in 2024.
As an educator, Leanne loves making studying music fun and engaging. They bring their love of music history to their teaching by striving to highlight the historical and cultural context of music, bringing every genre to life in a new and exciting way.
Leanne teaches piano and woodwinds at our Henderson location. Their rate is $29/half-hour.

Do you have an interest in jazz? Perhaps in music school and a career in music? This class is for you! We'll explore many different facets around the idea of playing in a jazz small group, based loosely around what you might experience in a university setting. We'll learn standards (forms, soloing, etc), deconstruct and write new tunes (composition), and explore the business side of music (booking gigs, recording, etc). Open instrumentation (e.g. piano/guitar, bass, drums + horns, not limited to that).
Rehearsals will be Friday from 6-7pm.
Limited spots are available!
Ages 13-18
