We are proud to offer 6 well equipped lesson studios, 2 large group lesson studios, and Truro's finest faculty of independent music teachers. Adriana Ochoa is an experienced music educator dedicated to inspiring confidence and creativity through piano and clarinet instruction. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and has over nine years of teaching experience. Adriana’s lessons are dynamic and designed to motivate students to challenge themselves, celebrate progress, and express emotion through music. She believes that learning an instrument builds discipline, joy, and resilience. With her enthusiasm and caring approach, Adriana helps every student discover their unique rhythm and develop a lifelong passion for music. Adriana’s rate is $27 per 1/2 hour lesson.

Jennifer's music education (piano) from Dalhousie University opened doors to many great opportunities to work in the music industry, whether it be managing a ‘New Music’ collective, a stage manager for opera, a producer of jazz festivals and more. However, the constant throughout has been teaching piano. The breadth of experience within the music sector has informed her approach to teaching along with years (decades!) of guiding 5 to 85 year olds on her piano bench. Jennifer's aim as a piano teacher is to instill and nurture a love for music, which enriches our lives and those around us. Jennifer's rate is $28 per half hour lesson.

Kelsey Erskine is an actively gigging singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and current NSCC Music Arts student. She has taken private lessons in voice for many years, and is currently studying with Brenna Conrad. She has also taken some lessons in piano and
trombone, though primarily learns by ear and feel. She has lots of ensemble experience - everything from choirs and musical theatre to jazz combos and big bands. An active musician and recording artist, Kelsey has 2 singles currently released, and a collaborative EP - LIFEBLOOD - coming in early 2026. Kelsey is a great resource for aspiring songwriters, performers, arrangers, and those interested in accompaniment. While well versed in a wide variety of genres, Kelsey’s primary areas of study have been jazz, classical, theatre, and contemporary music. She strives to be constantly learning in order to bring fresh perspective into each lesson. Her ultimate goal is to create a fun and engaging learning environment for each student where they can develop crucial skills and flourish as a musician. Kelsey’s rate is $28 per 1/2 hour lesson.

Michelle is a mother and an elementary school teacher. Throughout her teacher career she has been school music teacher for 7 years of her 19 year career. Having played piano since the age of four, Michelle has a love of music that she expresses through many musical outlets.
Michelle has recently moved back to her hometown of Truro after three years teaching in the North, and is looking forward to nurturing young musicians in her home community! Michelle's rate is $25 per 1/2 hour lesson.

Natsumi is an experienced and passionate instructor with over 10 years of teaching students of all ages, from preschoolers to adults. Holding RCM 10 certifications in piano, saxophone, violin, flute, and music theory, as well as the ability to teach intermediate clarinet, she brings a well-rounded and diverse musical background in classical, pop, and jazz.
Whether you're a beginner or an advanced student, Natsumi is dedicated to enriching your life with music through engaging & tailored lessons that emphasize both enjoyment and the fundamentals. Her adaptable teaching approach ensures each lesson is personalized to meet individual needs. Natsumi is also a former national competition winner in Japan in 2015 to 2017. She is looking forward to having fun lessons with you! Natsumi’s rate is $30 per 1/2 hour lesson.

From a long line of Celts (Cape Breton, prior to that Western Highlands of Scotland), Rhonda MacLellan has been performing and teaching Celtic music – fiddling with interspersed vocals – for more than 30 years. This type of fiddling is also for those that want to learn to play by ear and capture the harmonies and counterparts on a fiddle; additionally, learn to perform. Rhonda also teaches violin and viola. Rhonda also teaches piano, including teaching chording and accompaniment on piano. Rhonda has done a lot of solo work, plus played, and sung with numerous bands, choirs and orchestras, all including a large component of solo/leads. A few examples of performing and teaching – opening act (solo fiddle and vocals) on the Vanoc Stage at the 2010 Olympics, International choir ‘Spiritsong’ that toured Europe, taught fiddle at College of the Rockies in BC, two Messiah choirs, and presently keyboardist for Caledonian Orchestra of NS. Welcoming all skill levels including beginners age 7 and up. Rhonda’s rate is $27 for a 1⁄2-hour private lesson.
