Buddy is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music. He has played with the Berklee & MIT Symphonic Orchestras, as a guest artist with Dizzy Gillespie, as well as many others. Buddy is a studio musician, recording radio/T.V. commercials and works with production companies and artists as a writer. He has lead various jazz groups for 4 decades and produced 4 albums of his own. Buddy has prepared many students for acceptance into various music programs at universities and colleges.

His rate is $27 per half hour lesson.

Irina graduated from the Saratov State Pedagogical University with an Honours degree specializing in music for Elementary and Preschool as well as a Music Education diploma from Volgograd State Pedagogical College.

She has held many positions in the field of music education since 1995. She specializes in classical, but can perform and teach in every style. Most of all - she loves to create. Sharing her passion for music and shaping the lives of aspiring artists will always be her greatest achievement.

Julia Jacklein has been teaching piano for 20 years and holds an MA in Music Composition, a BIS in Piano Pedagogy, and an ARCT in Piano Performance.

She is experienced with traditional and alternative teaching methods, and has a particular interest in teaching children that require special learning support, e.g. students on the autism spectrum. Some of her students enjoy interdisciplinary studies (combining music with visual art or improv) while others pursue the Royal Conservatory curriculum or an individualized program of study.

Julia is professionally active in the community as a music composer and visual artist. She is fluently bilingual (English/German), and speaks French and Spanish at an advanced level. Please inquire if interested in lessons in a language other than English.

Julia’s lesson rate is $27 per half-hour.

Karen is a registered music teacher with both the Royal Conservatory of Music and the Ontario Registered Music Teachers Association with a special certification in teaching the early childhood level. Karen has an ARCT in Piano Performance and plays piano for her church choir. Her students range in age from 5 to 85! Karen has taught piano and theory in Burlington for over 20 years and is welcoming new students of all levels.

Karen's lesson rate is $29 per half hour.

Lizuarte earned his B.Mus at McMaster University, and a Music diploma from Humber College. He is the former conductor of the Oakville Portuguese Philharmonic Orchestra, and currently directs the Lakeside Wind Ensemble. He has recorded with local bands and has been teaching for over 25 years. He prepares students for College/University auditions and RCM exams.

Nancy Olfert is an accomplished musician and music educator. For over 40 years she has been teaching piano, theory, and voice as well as performing professionally as an accompanist, singer, and choral conductor. She holds an ARCT in piano performance, an RCM Grade 10 in voice, a Bachelor of Education with music qualifications for Primary, Junior, Intermediate, and Senior levels. Nancy recently retired from full-time vocal music teaching in the classroom and is returning to her first love – teaching private lessons.

Her rate is $28 per half hour lesson.

Natalie has been a teacher of piano and theory for thirty years, both here and in the UK. She graduated from McMaster University (Bachelor's in history and theory), Western University (Master's in theory), and the University of Surrey, England (MPhil in musicology research). Natalie also has her ARCT and LTCL diplomas for piano performance. She loves to teach and perform and is an experienced accompanist and chamber musician. Her goal is to pass on this love of playing and performing to her students. When Natalie's not teaching or accompanying, she enjoys proofreading and editing books, reading, and traveling.

Lakeside Wind Ensemble is a community brass and woodwind group that plays a variety of music, run by Lizuarte De Sousa. We accept flutes, clarinets, oboe, alto, tenor & baritone saxophones; trumpets, trombones, French horns, baritones, euphoniums, and tubas with at least 2+ years experience. The season runs from September through June. Rehearsals are Tuesday nights from 7-9 PM.

Garden City Orchestra rehearses weekly throughout the year. We have two big concerts a year. One in December and one in June. We go out to senior homes and we take part in music festivals. Garden City Orchestra began in 2015 and we have been growing ever since. We enjoy learning and performing pieces from all the great composers from the past and present.

We invite guest musicians to our performances to make it extra special.

Students should be reading at or above a Grade 3 Suzuki or RCM Level. Rehearsals are Thursday nights from 7-9 PM
