After purchasing my first (tenor) ukulele I was looking for something a bit smaller and more portable but I didn't really want to sacrifice the deeper tone I got from the tenor. The Kala thin-line travel ukulele provided the best of both worlds, Despite having a very compact, thin body this is a surprisingly loud and rich-sounding instrument, thanks in part to the arched back, which directs the internal resonances towards the front sound hole. You can actually jam with guitar players and not feel drowned out. And the padded travel bag that comes with it has back-pack style straps so I can comfortably jump on my bike or a bus and travel hands-free with it. I would have happily paid a little extra for higher quality geared tuning pegs but that's a minor quibble. All in all this is really nice instrument. Kudos to Kala!

Great uke! Looks beautiful, feels good in the hands; plays well and sounds really good; very good projection (loud). Easy to carry and to hold, given it's thin. The only downside (quite minor) for me was that the bag doesn't have a strap, just a handle, which is weird for a "travel" uke. But hey, overall, you'll love it!

My 4th Ukulele. Fall in love with it. absolutely gorgeous. Nice sound & pretty loud compare to it's body size portion.

I was deciding between the Kala Mahogany Tenor and this, and I was surprised by the price difference ($80) because they are quite similar instruments sound wise, but I am still very happy nonetheless with the thinline!
