A bit of a learning curve but very tweakable and all the downloaded sounds can be adjusted to suit your taste. Very good results if you take the time. Excellent website to update it online. The looper is very basic and sound quality not up to the level of a JamMan device. Saves the space of several individual pedals. Very solidly built.

This may be a good unit but is very difficult to figure out. The (on-line) manual is near useless and Line6 does not offer any useful instruction on-line. There are tons of demos on you-tube but no useful training. Most on-line reviewers agree it's difficult to figure out. Also, a lot of silly useless pre-sets in it.

After much messing around with the POD HD 400 - although I do love the sounds in the unit there is one major flaw in the software. When trying to assign Wah to a secondary pedal you can`t do this. They have made the software not allow the 2nd pedal to do anything other than volume. A real disappointment. Guess I have to get a POD HD 500.

Occasionally I would turn it on and my presets were gone. The mode switching button also was off. So I would reset it to factory settings and re-install all my presets and that would work most of the time. I think I just got a bad one and they're not all like that.

I own an older POD Pro xt rackmount unit. I have enjoyed the unit and gotten a lot of use out of it. When this HD400 went on sale during monster days I bought it. Finally for the first time last night I had the chance to plug it in and test it out. Wow... I did flash the software up to POD 2.0 including the new amp models. So i spent time and ran through all the presets. Amp emulation technology has come a long way. The only way I can describe it is that it feels like it would feel when you play a tube amp. Sustain, the air from a speaker, ease of playing is amazing. Not all the preset sounds are sounds you would use, but when you get into dialing up manual sounds and spending some time with it there is no question this unit will impress you. Highly worth the money. And where are you going to be able to get a variety of sounds like that - you'd pay more for 1 amplifier than you'd pay for this POD HD400

I love this thing. You MUST connect it to a computer and do all the updates and get the edit software to appreciate it fully. You'll gain 7 extra amp models (some of the best in the pedal) a lot of bug fixes and using the edit software cuts down your tinkering time from hours to mere minutes...unless you get sidetracked by how good it sounds. I showed up at jam with nothing but a guitar, cables and this unit, plugged into the PA and had the same god-like tone I heard from my headphones while I was making presets in less than two minutes. Only had to adjust the levels on one or two setups that jumped through the mix more than the others. Just got it while it was on sale (and $20 cheaper than the HD300, if you can figure that one out). It cuts through the mix like you wouldn't believe! Very impressed with the amp models, I have never liked any Mesa Rectifier sim that I've heard prior to this; they've always had a buzzy/fuzzy distortion that was unappealing, this truly gets as close as I've heard. The Soldano overdrive is great, never actually used a Soldano but it's been my preferred model out of the Line 6 sims since I first purchased a first Toneport GX and this one is simply more realistic than the prior attempts. I haven't recorded with this pedal yet but it connects easily and I assume it's sound will translate just as easy to recording as it does for headphone jamming to live rig. Not a big fan of a few of these models, and plan don't use em, I'm sure someone else will but I wish the Roland JC120 was in this unit like most of the others as opposed to either the Gibson/Supra/strange boutiques amp. Other than that for the price you can have an all in one unit for everything that cuts down on tinkering time, recording setup and spawns creativity while jamming at home. What more could you ask for?

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
