The Harpsicle Harp can be played in the key of C and A minor or tuned to any other scale. All Harpsicle Harp music sets are in the Key of C and A minor. Also, there is a lifetime of music already published in these keys. Like the Renaissance harp, the Harpsicle Harp has no Bridge pins so levers cannot be added. This is the perfect harp for beginners or the casual harpist.

I bought this harp for camping - so I could practice while away and not need to take one of my larger and more vulnerable harps. It has a surprisingly pleasing sound and bigger voice than I expected. The string spacing is narrower than larger harps so takes a little getting used to but I have even occasionally used it in jam sessions when I wanted something more portable. If buying for a beginner I would go the extra and get either a sharpsicle or flatsicle to give options for playing in more keys. I am thinking of selling it and buying a flatsicle for camping.

On a bit of whim, I decided to rent the harpsicle the other day after checking out a website called "calming harp". The man offers free lessons on youtube so I thought it would be fun to try as rental fees are affordable. I love the size, weight and feel of this harpsicle. Yes I am a newbie and can't compare it to others, but I know cheap material when I see it as I have guitars and a host of other stuff. The sound is really pretty and as I play it, my family is appreciating the music! I have basic piano experience and it makes the transition to the harpsicle a breeze! I love it and it is now on my wish list!! I am afraid my guitar is going to be sorely neglected as this new friend is much easier to play.

Bought this for my daughter when she turned 9, has absolutely loved it and for such a small instrument has a beautiful sound even when someone is learning to play it.

I have three harps and love this little harp for what it is - light, portable, fits in small spaces and amazingly bright. No it doesn't have levers but I use it for jamming when I don't want to cart something big, for practice to keep fingers nimble and just to lay back and zone out on.

Harpsicles are a good first harp although they lack levers so you have to play in C major/A minor or modes forever BUT they are decently built. The lower strings are a bit 'spongey' (could be firmer but they aren't on these harps). Mid-range & high notes are clear. As these harps use zither type pins which are different than most harps it does take awhile to get used to tuning them. Also the pins are on the left side of the harp (when it is in your lap) rather than the more conventional right side.
