I've been playing this guitar for over a year now for Rock recordings and as well as some small venue playing. I got a set-up done (well worth it), and this made it into an instrument I will likely never sell. The shocking part to me is that the Modern Player line is all MIC (made in China). But at the end of the day, awesome is awesome no matter where it's put together.

This thing is heavy, and heavy things are usually really good...such as tanks and the like. Very good quality, blindfolded you might think it's an American guitar or better. Blindfolded should be the way people check out guitars or instruments, but this Tele looks good when the lights come on and it's last call as well without a doubt. Great cleans and out of phase sound attainable (you'd think you were playing a heavy strat), while the bridge humbucker puts out lots of low end combined with bite...not too bad. Crank the amp to 11 and this thing sustains and holds tone well across the fretboard (which is rather nice indeed). For this price Fender had to use logic and have a game plan, the only cost cutting area that can hold this thing back is the pick ups, but they're not Bic lighter disposables either, any guitar can usually be improved sonically by changing out the pick ups and this is no exception. These will get you by but you need to work the tone control on the amp and guitar a bit whereas with higher end pick ups, you just crank the volume and let everything take its place. I highly recommend this guitar, if you could only have one guitar and a grand to blow, this or a Godin would be your best bet, the Godin in my opinion will throw this guitar around tone-wise but they do that to a lot of quality guitars so they're not alone.

Great guitar to keep. I got one with buzzing frets on E and A strings though. I might return it for an exchange or a setup.

Not set up, you might think this guitar is just OK. And it's made in China, which at first was big a turn-off for me. that is, until I played one. I've actually played three of these in the past year. One of them was not set up and almost tricked me into not buying. But two others were set up in-store, and were a joy to play. In every case, I found the build quality of these guitars to be excellent. They are also pretty heavy, which is par for the course for a Tele. This modern player Tele is a nice sounding, versatile instrument. But do yourself a favour and get it set up if you buy one. It will punch in 2x it's price with a good setup.

I own 2 other Teles, both American made. This guitar (Made in China), so far, is every bit as good as the other two. The humbucker and strat pickups are excellent. The coil tap switch is a great feature. The workmanship is impeccable. By far the best value I have gotten from any instrument I have ever purchased.

This is an amazing addition to the Tele family, fit finish and playability is top notch. Great variety of tones available through 5 way and split coil, neck pup is particularly excellent. Try it, you'll like it. Get the first wave of a smart move by Fender, just above Squier, just below Standard, price wise.

Just picked this up last week, it is quite amazing, the quality, tone, setup components, all top notch. The finish on the Charcoal one is magical, it changes from rusty brown, to grey, to moss green, depending on the light, and the grain is very nice. The tinted neck is smooth as silk, the vintage Kluscon type tuners work well, and hold to tune. Pups are not the best in the world, however they are not bad either, what you'd expect for the price point. Seems very solid, I wouldn't hesitate to gig with it. QC in China must be very good to produce this kind of quality at this price.

Straight out of the box, this was set to go. Excellent finish quality immediately apparent, great price, no wonder this one sells like hotcakes, it's a winner! Don't let the 'Crafted in China' deter you, they didn't drop a beat.

This is probably the most versatile guitar I've ever played, thanks to the 7 pickup configurations. It can play almost any genre of music, and for the price I don't think you can find anything better. The maple neck plays so well, and it was set up well when I bought it.

This Telecaster plays as well as any other U.S. instrument. It plays better than the two U.S. Stratocasters that I own. It is of exceptional quality and came with a near perfect set-up. You cannot go wrong with this instrument.

Don't let the "Made in China" scare you off. This guitar is fantastic. It plays great, it has a flawless neck and the finish is absolutely beautiful. I have the Charcoal Transparent. The picture on the web site is nothing like the actual color. It is actually Black and when stage lighting hits the guitar the wood grain just pops. Very wide range of tone. Sounds fantastic. I cant believe this guitar sells for so cheap. I am VERY happy with this purchase. I had to wait 41/2 months to get this guitar, but it was worth every minute.

I love teles, but already owning two standard configuration models, I was looking for one with a different sound. I special ordered this one after test driving the Modern Player Marauder, and being very impressed with it's quality and great neck. Since it and Tele had the same neck radius I decided it was the one for me. I had to wait 6 months but it was worth every day of the wait. I may now look at another modern player model. Don't let the Made in China scare you off, this is great quality for the money. Only reason for not giving perfect 10's is that I hate split poles on tuners.

I love teles and this one is a major addition to the family. Similar to the Nashville tele with three pick ups and a surprise. The surprise is not so much the humbucker in the bridge position but rather the coil tap that allows you to retain the Fender single coil sound but the option to beef up the tone if you're looking for a bit more druve. A five position switch makes this guitar infinitelely usable with plenty of access to tone heaven. Fit and finish is fabulous and the neck is excellent. Not sure what you can buy for this kind of money that gives you this much flexibility but this is an amazing guitar for the money.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
