Les Paul Standard Plaintop
Epiphone's history with legendary guitarist and innovator Les Paul dates back to the early 1940's when Les, working late at night at the Epiphone factory on 14th Street in New York City, created what might have been the world's first solidbody electric guitar, better known as "The Log." Over the years, Les continued to work closely with Epiphone luthiers reviewing new product ideas and offering suggestions. Epiphone always made a good guitar, Les often said.
Perhaps Les greatest achievement, the Les Paul Standard, remains one of the most sought after guitars in the world 50 years since its first issue. Now, Epiphone's Les Paul Standard brings you the classic features and tone of Les invention with legendary Epiphone quality and value.

Players like Jimmy Page, Slash, Ace Frehley, Zakk Wylde, Alex Lifeson and countless others have loved the unique look and tone of the classic that Les Paul created years ago. And now, you too can experience the Les Paul Standard at a price that won't break the bank!

Classic Features
The Epiphone Les Paul Standard features a solid mahogany body and maple top that deliver the classic tone and sustain that can only come from a "real" Les Paul. Like all Epiphone Les Pauls (and unlike less costly designs), the Epiphone Les Paul Standard features a 14 degree headstock that gives you more pressure at the nut for more sustain with less tuning hang-ups caused by "string-tree" gadgets. A rosewood fingerboard with trapezoid inlays completes the classic Les Paul Standard look. The hand-set mahogany neck delivers outstanding string-to-body resonance while medium-jumbo frets add to the smooth and sustained tone.

Alcino HumBuckers and the Les Paul Sound
A pair of Alnico Classic humbucker pickups deliver that warm, rich tone known the world over as the 'Les Paul Sound'. When winding our humbuckers, Epiphone utilizes a double vacuum waxing process that ensures quiet operation free from microphonic hum. The pickup is first placed in the specialized wax vacuuming system before the cover is placed on the unit to ensure that the wax fully penetrates to the very center of the pickup and solidifies all parts. After the cover is placed on, it is again given a second vacuum wax bath until the unit is completely saturated with wax. Epiphone uses only the highest quality parts for our pickups including ABS plastic bobbins, 1010 Cold Rolled Steel pole shoes and pole screws, Alnico magnets and the finest magnet wire available.

Legendary Epiphone Hardware
The Epiphone Les Paul Standard features our legendary rock solid hardware including our locking Tune-o-matic StopBar fully adjustable bridge, a classic for over 50 years. And now, our updated, patent pending design auto-locks the bridge and tailpiece in place with no tools needed! This also results in improved sustain. The Epiphone Les Paul Standard uses 1" diameter potentiometers for better "throw", longer life, and reliable service and our all-metal toggle switches use rugged spring-steel contacts to ensure years of reliable service and performance. Epiphones proprietary output jack features an improved contact shape and heavy-duty spring steel to increase reliability. All our Les Paul Standards include Grover machine heads on our tuners for stability and long life.

This thing is beautiful. I love the way it looks, the finish quality on the paint, binding, inlays, headstock, everything - is really good. It sounds like a LP, that's for sure, so if that's what youre after - the looks and the sound, this will do it. The problem that everyone knows about Epiphones however, is the quality can be shoddy. You can get one that will be about every bit as good as a Gibson, and you can get some that are substandard. I'm glad I got this one on a deeper discount - even if it was a couple years old. The neck is a tad warped - not even worth taking back as I dont think theyd be able to do too much to it, the way it is. I get some buzzing on the low strings, especially the E up high around the 14th fret to 18th fret. Some unlevel frets. Its fixable, but super annoying. The saddles on the bridge are cheap. Going to replace those eventually, for sure. While adjusting intonation, some of the screws move upwards on an angle, so I need another screwdriver or device to hold the screw from rising up. This also makes intonation unstable, as the saddles already do move a tad on their own normally, but now with temp changes, its more severe. Intonating more often and its taking longer as well. B string is intonated as good as it can get, in tune and intonated to the 12th fret, 15th fret is also perfectly in tune, but 6th, 7th to 9th are not in tune at all. Only this one string. You get what you pay for, I do wish I did a more thorough playthrough of this guitar, but still not regretful as this was the only time Id get a deal like that on this guitar. Most of the issues I can deal with.

I picked this up and really enjoying it. Great value having all of the Les Paul feel, looks, sounds, without paying the price of a Gibson. Only issue was with the switch but L&M fixed that with the setup at no-charge so it works and plays extremely well. Amazing guitar.

I had an EPI Les Paul 20 years ago. It was OK at best. Sloppy machine heads, tinny sound. I've also had Gibson Studio and Standard Les Paul. This Epiphone is in line with quality and sound of my 2006 Les Paul Studio. Build quality has improved a great deal. You can feel it immediately. Incredible value for the price point.

This is my first electric guitar and I am in love with it. I think it is amazing value for the price. I don't have much to compare it to but if you are looking for something in this price range, I don't think you can go wrong with this guitar.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
