Welcoming yet another expansion to the highly successful AZ series, Ibanez introduces the AZES or AZ Essentials line. The philosophy behind this series is to bring the tone, versatility and, playability of this celebrated lineup to a wider array of beginner and intermediate players. However, AZ Essentials are also equipped with series-specific features such as a Mono-unit output jack, a 250mm fingerboard radius, and Comfort round bridge saddles, all designed to make the beginner's learning process a streamlined, enjoyable and fun experience.

AZES guitars feature a 25" scale length, which makes for an easier playing instrument for children and players of smaller stature. Additionally, the 25" medium scale is also large enough that a player can continue to grow with the instrument as they mature as a guitarist. The 250mm fretboard radius is not too flat, not too round, and makes for an excellent choice for the first-time player. This radius is a great middle ground that allows for learning to play each note correctly, while still maintaining a high degree of comfort

My model had a few obvious flaws but I still wanted to take it home as I had been waiting for a while for it to show up in stores. Paint is missing where the neck screw are, grommets are not fully seated, frets are really rough when bending, the pickguard is not fully seated on the body and the original nut is badly cut. For the price, I`m still very satisfied and it`s all easy to fix the playability details with the included setup. I will be paying for a new TUSQ nut though for tuning stability. The different sounds you can achieve with it are great and it feels great to play with the shorter neck scale. It feels a little bit like a toy, but it`s not necessarily a bad thing. The bridge comfort is very very good. I 100% recommend even with the flaws

I’ll start by saying I’m a huge fan on Ibanez guitars. RGs, wizard necks. The whole thing. When they released the AZ line I was stoked. I love super strat guitars. Classic looks with modern appointments. I’ve been holding out on buying a Prestige, as I have too many guitars as is and just haven’t pulled the trigger. In comes the AZES line. I watched all the rave reviews and just had to jump on it. I decided to head the warnings and avoid the term version as the tuning stability is apparently not quite there. Fixed bridge SSS it is. With the alter switch I get a wide variety of tones. Nice full humbuckerish sounds. And that lovely, throaty strat spank. Right out of the box, the set up was nice. Great action. Tuning stability is really good. Needs a little bit of intonation work, but to be expected. Fit and finish is almost perfect. Really, nothing to complain about. Just a little bit of very slight roughness around the neck volute at the headstock. But it’s so minor. Otherwise it’s perfect. Love this colourway. The mint, vintage pick guard is lovely. Love the jatoba fretboard. It looks great, plays great and has a nice responsive tone. The sating neck is smooth and so comfortable. It’s not thin or thick. Just right. More of a traditional board radius on this and it feels great. The poplar body gives it a good weight. Not too light. Feels just right to me. Frets are great. Edges are pretty good. Once I restring up a gauge and do the intonation I’m going to do a once over on them to finish them up. But out of the box I say they are good at this price point. Love the rounded top saddles. Super comfortable when palm muting. Pots and switches feel and sound good. No noise when switching. The pickups sound really good to me. I’m using this as a practice guitar while travelling with a Fender Mustang Micro and some beyerdynamic DT880 Pro headphones. Set to clean with a touch of breakup and some reverb, it sounds sublime. Seriously. I’m so impressed at this set up I have. I can hear every little imperfection in my fingering and playing. Very articulate. I can’t recommend this guitar enough. For the price, it’s perfect. I could not ask for anything more. Definitely IMO much better than the price equivalent Squire or other S type guitars in this range. It would make a great first guitar as trading up wouldn’t need to happen for a long, long time, if at all. This guitar will be in my collection forever.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
