Just as the title says, it's the best way I can describe the tone of this amplifier. I also love how this thing looks and how it functions- simple and straight to the point without having too many bells and whistles because it doesn't need to. It's built like a rock- heavier than I thought it'd be- it's durable, reliable, and needs little to no maintenance.

I have owned many amps over the last 30 years, most of them tube amps, I play mostly hard rock and old school metal( think Ozzy the Randy years) I'm in two rock giging rock bands now, This is one of the best sounding ,most dependable amps I have ever owned, it works perfect using the 4 cable method, I will never go back to a tube again AAAA++++ amp

I've owned this amp for a good year or so, during the holidays I picked up a 1st gen Rockerverb 50 and the difference is stunning. For a slightly darker almost more death metal or boogie sounding drive channel this is pretty decent, it's more capable for leads then the JJ 6V6s in the Rockerverb Mk1, as those need a lot more help to sing and be heard. However, and this is a big one, the drive channel in the Crush Pro doesn't like heavy clipping going into it, pushing extra distortion, boost or overdrive can cause the low end to clip out and become seriously unnatural. If you're looking to craft the seriously high-gain tones you can achieve with an orange tube head with generous amounts of boost and such in front of it.. you'll come out with a sound that rivals a cookie crumble in comparison to a real orange head. Don't listen to the bozos who wanna tell you the solid state is on the same level.. if you're into stoner/doom metal, this amp will not do it justice, the clean channel with fuzz works better, but then there is probably a clean Fender amp you can find that'd do that job much better on the used market for a better buck. The inclusion of reverb is nice, but not amazing. Old rock tones also come alive through the real deal. I'm not really a fan of the Orange sound on it's own. so this amp doesn't do it for me when the rockerverb can be taken up 4 notches and achieve a grindy bonecrushing tone with just some compression and an aggressive boost. I also find Orange in any flavour I've tried isn't very nice with effects pedals and as much as I enjoy the sound I get, these amps feel like they hold me back. Should be noted I've also tried V30s, Swamp Thangs, Texas Heats, T-75s, Greenbacks.. And a few tweaked Greenbacks/clones (which I seem to prefer across the board, clean to dirty) Quality is also questionable.. I've had the amp go all weird a few times and require me to turn it off then back on.. my 15 year old tube head is still just truckin' along.. as unstable as tubes can be..

I have played guitar for 35 years. I have played semi-professionally, for at least 25. This is the best value I've ever had in any amplifier purchase. This is the best Solid state amp I've ever used. And this amp is on a par with or exceeds many tube amps I've owned or used. This is an absolutely responsive instrument voice. It has piles of headroom and will drive 2 full size/full load 4x12 cabs effortlessly. I play hard rock, blues-metal, and other heavy genres. This amp is capable in all those areas, with a distinctly Orange personality. Also worthy of praise, is the clean channel, which is capable of jazz tones, as well as being gently pushed into breakup with an OD pedal or hot bridge pickup. This amp also has a great reverb feature. versatile, musical and nicely voiced. I run this into both an Orange PPC-412 and a Marshall 1960B cabinet. However, the master volume control enables practice volumes and use through a 1x12 too. It is my very favourite amp these days. Pure satisfaction.

I have had a line 6, a marshall 5210 and a marshall dsl15c before I had this Orange, and let me tell you this Orange blows them away. It's simple to use, a lot of people mistake it for a tubed amp. The controls are just reverb, volumes and bass middle and treble for each channel. The reverb is great. It is digital (just the reverb) but it gives you three different options. Plate, hall, and spring with the adjustable knob obviously. I was surprised with the amount of reverb you could get out of this amp. I've used it in the studio a couple times and to perform and it's been holding up great. Couldn't be happier. Definitely recommend this to just about anybody. Good cleans, great dirty sounds and everything in between.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
