Introduction To A Samba - Adderley/Curnow - Jazz Ensemble - Gr. Medium
Additional Photos:
Composer: Julian Adderley
Arranger: Bob Curnow
Format: Score and Parts
Instrumentation: Jazz Ensemble
Level: Medium
Style: Latin - Samba
Originally recorded by Cannonball Adderley on his album Domination and inspired by Oliver Nelson, Bob Curnow's adaptation/arrangement of "Introduction to a Samba" features the alto saxophone and trumpet duet stating the melody supported by a traditional samba feel. There is plenty of solo space for alto saxophone and trumpet as they further enjoy the spotlight. The drummer then has a short solo which leads back to a restatement of the theme. All ranges are very moderate. This chart is a great addition to any program needing a solid Latin piece to provide variety and spice!
