The new MPC Live makes the process of performing your studio inventions on stage incredibly seamless by combining the power of a production centerpiece with the portability and rugged design of an on stage workhorse.

At the heart of the new MPC Live is a beautiful, full colour 7" multi-touch screen, four touch-capacitive Q-Link controls, a clickable master encoder knob and 16 amazingly responsive, velocity and pressure-sensitive RGB pads.

Weighing in at less than 6 pounds, the MPC Live ushers in a new era of ultra-portable production. Powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and packing 16 gigs of on-board storage, the MPC Live features numerous ways to take your beloved sample library and MPC sessions anywhere. Files can be accessed and transferred to the built on-board storage via the built-in SD card slot and/or two-port USB hub. If that's not enough storage, the MPC Live also features a 2.5" SATA drive connector providing additional storage via installation of a fixed hard drive - SSD or HDD (sold separately). The same USB hub can also be used for MIDI controller connectivity.

What can I say? A dream come true. Free from cables, free to create and free to travel. I love my Akai MPC Live and the latest firmware/software updates only improve upon the stability and workflow. Get an extra HD for it and your set for some good times. Thanks Akai and Thank you Long & McQuade:) All best, DSS

After owning this instrument/equipment for about 3 months I'm still having a great experience making music and learning new techniques as I become more familiar with it. Great on-board sounds and on the fly editing/automation. I've made music for years through computer, ipad and other beat machines but this is hands down my favourite and the centrepiece to my studio. Great investment if you wish to take your production to the next level in my opinion.

It reminded me of cubase VST in a box with a battery with a pad controller If you have an ipad and like to produce music on it, just buy a MPD controller and your laughing I just sent mine back It felt like an unfinished product, with all the bugs and everything. I did like the unit but I found it got in the way for me. Lots of times the buttons did nothing on certain screens. It felt like they focussed too much on the wrong things. I mean who needs 16 pads of drums x 8 screens per drum track ? (top left buttons on the machine) why not make each screen / bank do a different thing on a top layer of a screen for easy live performance. Also if you like to step sequence, the pads can only input the first 16 steps of the loop even though the other bank buttons are right there on the top, they do nothing. You have to input anything over 16 steps page by page on the touch screen It didnt really do anything to inspire creativity. It was basically a poor DAW in a box. I also found that both sampling into it and importing samples into gave the sounds a bit of a mussy quality to them. Almost like a lack of definition somehow. I tried solid sources from drum machines and analogue synths as well as sampling from vinyl. Overall a fantastic idea, especially with the battery power and the SSD etc etc. If only they spent some more time on developing the software to improve the workflow instead of advertising WIFI this and bluetooth that ...... I loves the fact I could input samples over SD card. Small quick and easy. No cables or BS PS. The time stretching Sucks. If you are thinking of shifting 10 bpm either side of a source sample and expecting ableton like results then think again. I really wanted to love this thing it just wouldn't let me I would have given I higher quality rating but the software really lets the thing down

Portability is amazing. Sequencer is tight. BPM detect. Real-time timestretching. Legendary MPC swing. Best sequencer, sampler out there. AND it's stand alone, no need for a computer.
