The new Compact Vintage Kit from Tama features the uniquely grained Mersawa wood. This kit adopts some ideas from vintage kits, such as a cymbal holder mounted directly on the bass drum shell and curved bass drum spurs, further setting it apart from the typical compact kit.

Its compact size and configuration make it ideal for working drummers, and it fits comfortably on just about any stage.

Features:

  • Beautiful Mersawa Wood Grain (6ply 7mm Mersawa / Poplar Shell)

  • Compact Sizes for Easy Transport

  • Bass Drum Mounted Cymbal Holder

  • Satin Blonde Finish (SBO)

Really enjoying this nice little kit. I get lots of positive comments about the sound and looks. ... and It's way better for transporting around to my gigs. I'm getting a surprisingly fat sound from the bass drum. (18" X 12") I haven't ported the head though as on my last kit, I missed the rich sound I got when I first brought it home. I am a little concerned about the plastic adjustment knobs on the snare, kick pedal and hihat stand but No problems so far. The drum heads are very thin so tuning with be markedly different with standard heads. I changed out the batter heads on the toms for G2's. I love the pop of the snare drum. It's the loudest part of the kit so I have to hold back a bit for those quieter gigs. All in all a really nice kit to play on ... my custom Tama bag set showed up this week and so I am set to go. I guess I'm a Tama guy now! :-)
