The YCL-450NM was designed as the ideal step-up instrument, made to the design of many professional-level instruments but with cost-saving elements. It features a beautiful grenadilla wood body that includes Yamaha's Duet+ treatment, improving its resistance to the effects of humidity and temperature.
Duet+
A design feature that premiered in oboes, Duet+ instruments are designed to cope with various issues inherent in wooden instruments. The upper joint body is drilled out slightly larger around the bore and tone-holes. Thermoplastic ABS resin is injected into the cavity, instantly forming the inner shape of a clarinet. It is designed to preserve as much virtue and tone of traditional clarinets as possible, while its natural appearance is hardly distinguishable from conventional all-wooden models.
