Baretta Special
Kramer is the number one name in high-performance guitars for high-performance rockers, and the new Baretta Special has a pedigree like few instruments out there. Styled in the image of the original Kramer Barettas of the early 1980s--one of which was the choice of the legendary Edward Van Halen--the Baretta Special has the distinctive offset double-cutaway body and droopy hockey headstock that set the rock world on fire nearly 30 years ago, while providing the power and playability required to do justice to its namesake. With a powerful humbucker pickup, vintage-style vibrato tailpiece, and a stunning Vintage White or Black finish, this entry level shred machine is the perfect introduction to the Kramer world without breaking your wallet.

Looking beneath the first-class hardware and electronics, the Baretta Special has the right tonewoods to back it all up. Its body is crafted from solid mahogany, a legendary wood for use in electric guitars, known for its outstanding richness and depth. The bolt-on neck is carved from hard Maple with a glued-on Rosewood fingerboard, and is built to the 25 1/2 scale length that many shredders prefer, which offers tight, thumping lows and shimmering harmonics. A fast, slim neck profile, 22 medium-jumbo frets, and a 12" fingerboard radius combine to make the Baretta Special superbly playable.

For no-nonsense rock action, the Baretta Special carries a single high-output humbucking pickup in the bridge position, routed through a single volume control. This Baretta Special pickup is wound with 42-AWG wire and made with a genuine Alnico V magnet just like the most desirable vintage humbuckers, but it has extra turns of wire for scorching leads and crunching rhythm tones, along with endless singing sustain. A vintage-style vibrato tailpiece provides all the divebombing action you can whip up, while premium die cast tuners with an efficient 14:1 gear ratio help to keep the whole package true to pitch.

• Mahogany body
• Maple Neck with rosewood fingerboard
• 25.5" scale
• 12" radius
• 1 Volume knob
• Vintage tremolo

After stumbling upon these from a few people talking about them online, I went out and snagged one and all I can say is wow! \n\nThe neck on this out of the box is outstanding. The pickup is very reminiscent of the 57 classics in my Gibson SG. It sounds great. I own a Gibson Firebird, SG, Corvus and 2 Fender HM Strats and this Barretta's fit and finish is unthinkably on par with those guitars! \n\nThe vintage tremolo did need a spring removed and a good setup and oiling. Not having a the floating floyd is not a bad thing tho, Floyd's can be quite annoying at times.\n\nI'm going to buy another one with a maple neck. These things are killer for the price!

Saw the price, and realized that I couldn't get a kit or DIY a parts build for the same (or less)$$$. I needed something to put down basic guitar on my personal music project (normally, I'm the bass player).\n\nOverall, build is actually pretty good, especially for a sub-$300 GTR. \n\nWeak points (as with most lower end axes) tuners and bridge. Will be replacing both at a later time. Probably a Floyd Rose or similar. \n\nIt's good enough for recording, where I'll be tuning between takes, but it's NOT a gig worthy ride... Yet.\n\nKudos to L&M in St. Catharines for having it in stock (thanks Rick and crew!).

Guitar sounds and plays awesome, the neck is very comfortable for me, no sharp frets, body, neck and headstock finish is great.\nI don't use the whammy bar so no comment on that.\nI think a better quality volume pot and Grover tuners will make their way into this guitar. For the price a few mods were to be expected.\nI don't think you can beat this guitar for the price. Very happy with my purchase

Wow!!! This guitar sounds terrific... I can't stop playing it. Great pickup and neck... and that 80's look...\nThe only flaw is that you can't use the tremolo bar, but you can replace it for a better one and change the tuners. As soon as I will have done it, it will be next to my EVH Stripes series in term of my favorite guitars.

Purchased this shred machine Tuesday November the 16th, brought it home and opened the box to reveal one incredible looking axe. The finish, fret work, and overall build quality is fantastic! I couldn’t be happier with this guitar, I haven’t stopped playing it since I brought it home haha! If you’re looking for a new but affordable guitar that won’t break your bank? Then this bad boy is for you! Check out a Kramer, they rock man!

For the money, this guitar is amazing. The tone that comes from the lone bridge HB is unreal. It's high output so it handles gain very well, and with a quality amp, it doesn't feel muddy or lost in the mix with the band.
I gave it a 4 in the quality dept, because the tuners will need to go to improve tuning stability (but that's to be expected at this price point) and the frets needed a polish. Positives in this area are the fret ends (which are very smooth), pickup quality, and overall build quality. The guitar is quite solid, and with a set of Grover tuners, stays in tune for days!
At the price these sell for, it allows a lot of room in the budget for mods and upgrades. Also, having only one knob and one humbucker, theyre cheaper to manufacture, which in my opinion has resulted in money spent on making it a better quality instrument all around.
This model may only do one thing, but it does it really freaking well!

This is a very good guitar for the price and highly recommended for beginners and diy modification. Good sounding pickup, tuners are ok, as long as you don't use whammy bar and it play well with comfortable neck. No sharp frets. Definitely happy with this guitar

I have been seriously impressed with this guitar for the price paid. The neck is a bit chunky for a shredder, but extremely comfortable. The factory setup was great, no sharp fret ends. The body is very comfortable and the stock pickup surprisingly decent (includes a full sized pot). However, for the price you have to expect some negatives.
The finish was a bit sloppy on the headstock. The tuners are junk as is the tremolo. The nut is sloppy and binds up the strings.
I’m currently in the process of modding it and installing a Floyd Rose. Commonly done and these guitars offer a great platform for it. In stock form it’s ok but needs some help!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
