Weekly Hand Drumming Classes! - Guelph, ON

The class offers a comfortable environment to connect to the beat of the drum through breath, body awareness, and other meditation techniques to align the body, mind and spirit. Students learn to play with confidence in performance situations while focusing on aspects of drumming drawn from African, Afro-Cuban, Caribbean..., Spanish, & Middle Eastern patterns. Release your inner drummer and find your unique musical voice! This session will explore:

- Listening skills & group musical dynamics
- Universal techniques, basic tones, & drum rolls
- Correct drumming posture & hand independence
- Exercises for timing and speed using simple rhythmic patterns
- Understanding syncopation and poly-rhythms
- Simple solo patterns & free improvisation
- Relaxation techniques including breathing and gentle stretching

Join us at the Guelph Long & McQuade location Monday evenings from 8-9PM starting February 1 through March 28 for $12/ class.
