I just got one of these today :) This is my 3rd guitar (1st epiphone special2 , 2nd Fender Strat Blacktop) and wow ,I mean WOW . Great guitar , no need for tunning , I played it right outta the box and it sounded perfect . Amazing sound of the 61 zebra pick-ups ( all that so called " spinal tap sustain" is there to back you up in those moments of extreme expression. Really light and comfortable . The only downs for me is few scratches on body but I dont care about them since isnt nothing too noticeable and the action is a little high , although Im not gonna touch it for now . Resume : This is your mahogany body/ vintage Gibson sound for the price of an Epi. Compared to my Fender Blacktop , I mean theres no question it is a superior instrument based on body/humbuckers .( and my Fender cost me 100 more expensive than the Gibson ) Go get yours now before theyre all gone !

Love matte finish, all colors are nice but picked cherry. Action way too high but easily adjusted. Wish the tuners matched the cool looking brushed aluminum hardware but I will get over it - or modify. Wish the gig bag was an option because you just don't put a quality instrument in a soft case. I do not care for the sound of the pickups but I understand my taste in music is weird so many other will be happy with them - mine will be swapped out soon enough. Excellent weight balance and feel. Good enough value to walk past the Epiphones and Grab a Gibson but I actually like lots of Epiphones!

I purchased a 2013 LPJ and liked it so much I bought the 2014 SGJ Vintage Burst. Quality and finish is excellent. Very nice Matte finish, smooth frets, stable and durable maple neck which I prefer. Action is a bit high but I've been told this is normal Gibson new guitar setup. A little truss rod tweak and lower bridge a bit and bingo - perfect action. Sound is classic SG, smooth and clear on low gain and a snarling dog on high gain. I love the stripped down but cool look of the LPJ and SGJ and they sacrifice nothing in sound to their more expensive kin. The 120th logo is a nice touch too. Great service by staff to bring in more than one SGJ so I could pick best color.

Great quality for the price and a very easy and guitar to play. Tuners are very tight and smooth, pickups have a nice clear growl and make for a very versatile sound. The finish is delicate. I got my first ding about 2 hours in with it but the satin looks great, especially the brushed hardware. I'm going to slap a $15 pickguard on it and I changed the knobs to the vintage SG ones which make it look a lot better. A lot of guitar for the money.

Was never a big fan of Gibson but I took a chance on this one because of the low price for an American made guitar. Always played Fenders. Very comfortable, lightweight. Flawless fretwork, no rough edges beautiful neck and finish. Only one minor rough spot on the back of the headstock and the black tape around the pickups is not secure and is coming off. Gibson should pay more attention to Quality control before shipping their products, but overall I'm happy with the guitar. Great for any type of music from metal to blues.

Best SG I've played for the price. Cryo frets, great pups, the whole nine yards.

My lady got me this guitar as a gift right off the rack. It wasn't properly set up (although it might have been tinkered with by other customers while on the rack). I let it settle for a couple days in my home before doing a basic set up. It was pretty close although the tail piece was far too high. After playing it for a few days, it was quite obvious I had a bad tuner on the 'G' string and all the tuners were, in general, pretty poor. Instead of getting them replaced with the same shady tuners, I put Grovers on it. Big difference. To sum up. The GOOD - Nice fast neck. - Pickups are bright and responsive. - The look is simple and classy - Fun to play The BAD - The tuners (as mentioned.) - The nut slots cut too high or not properly (especially 'G' and 'D'.). This is common though. - Sloppy fret cuts. - Finish is pretty delicate. - Painted on 'Gibson' and logo on head. C'mon... Over all, its a nice 'Gibson' for $500.00. If one were so inclined, he/she could add some pickup covers and a pick guard and really dress it up.

5 Bills, Made in USA, Gibson! Thank You! I honestly can't put the thing down. It's not as thick sounding as my LP Studio, but that's because of the amount of lumber.Still a steal for the price.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
