I bought this iPad holder for my iPad Air 3 and realized then when you mount it to the vertical part of the mic stand, the two ball joints don't allow you to make a 90º turn. This means that the iPad doesn't actually face you. I was really disappointed and had to mount it on a separate mic stand which was annoying. Otherwise, the only other position is directly in front of you, but blocked by your microphone. I took the holder into the shop and modified it slightly. By opening up the gap where the ball joint was being blocked, I was able to make it do a full 90º turn. It only took a few seconds with a grinder and now it functions perfectly. Sitting beside my mic stand and directly facing me. I think they REALLY need to revisit the joint mechanism and allow it to swivel out to the side as well. Otherwise you are mounting it under your boom arm.
