Me and my Dad own 3 guitars an Ibanez Rg from indonesia me and my cousin call it the Ibanez (really good) rg lol a Fender strat most unique sound out of any guitar imo and I love it too but the Gibson Sg there's something magical about this guitar it just sings when you play on it and the sustain can't be beat I dont wanna be biased but alongside the les paul they must have the most sustain out of any guitar out there thats their signature advantage and the longer the note lasts the more you can do with it so this guitar does it all any style of music also I havent come across a style of music where I had to instantly switch back to my other guitars...at the end of the day a Gibson Sg for the price is probably the best guitar you can buy.

I have been a Strat/Les Paul freak the bulk of my playing life but something about those devil horns and Angus Young of AC drew me in. Not to mention other players that use one like Tony Iommi, Frank Zappa, Wolfmother guy?, Greta Fleet guy? Mine is actually a 2006 long before Gibson had their issues in recent years yet I tried a 2016 and a 2019 and they felt the same same so maybe quality control at Gibson did not affect the SG line. It is a bit hard to get used to as the neck is thicker than usual and the strings are closer together. Also when comparing to a typical Les Paul, the neck feels longer almost like a bass guitar but the upper fret access can't be beat. The weight of the guitar is easily the lightest I have ever had. I tried one of the "unfinished" Tribute ones and the neck was skinnier the way I like it but the no finish meant it could be harder to keep clean. The pickups are a bit harsh for my taste and I had a LP Custom with the same pickups. I have used 57 Classics so I may pop those in to compare. Otherwise its a great guitar and final Gibson for my collection.

The best USA standard for the dollar of any make if you ask me regardless of the year of the SG. I know play my SG half the time along with my USA strat when I am live or rehearsal. The SG's play fast (if you want that,) killer sustain and sound amazing. So many sounds options with the tone and volume too. I am shocked they are so cheap vs. other USA standards! These are simply wonderful guitars!

Got this 3 weeks ago, love the feel and the crisp clear sound compared to lesser guitars epiphone or the like. Yes get the case not the gig bag, of course ! Sounds awesome with overdrive. Played it so much my fingers cracked, get it if you can.The staff at Long and McQuade are real pros thanks I'm just an amateur guitarist but with this weapon I seem Great!

I took advantage of Gibson month at L & M and finally got myself a Gibson. I played just about every Gibson in the store and finally settled on a 2016 SG Standard. All I can say is that the longer I own it the more I love it. First of all, it is without a doubt the most comfortable guitar to play that I've ever played. The neck is superb. The only issue is a slight tendency for the high e string to slip off the fretboard but I think a good setup will sort that out. I went with the 2016 mostly for the 490/498 pickups which just roar compared with the 57 Classics in the 2017. I also like the look of the 2016 better. The tone is everything you'd hope for from an SG - all the way from sweet and mellow to flat out nasty. It's light, super comfortable, basically just about plays itself. What more can you say? The quality is superb. 2016 was a real bounce back year for Gibson and the 2016 SG is a year that people will be looking for twenty or thirty years from now, it's just that good.

I deliberated for almost a month before finally choosing the 2016 SG Standard T over the 2017. The final decision came down to aesthetics and sound - I just think the '16 looks better and I love the tone you get from the 490/498 pickups. What can I say? I love this guitar; from the super comfortable neck and fingerboard to the lightweight body to the down and dirty tone that cleans up sweet as can be there is nothing not to love about the 2016 SG. After the debacle that was 2015 at Gibson guitars they have come back stronger than ever. In years to come when people ask which are the best years for SG standards 2016 is sure to be at the top of the list.

I picked up my Sg in the beginning of January and basically haven't put it down. There is no better way to get inspired than to have a guitar so comfortable it almost plays itself! It sounds awesome too, better than most 3000-4000$ les Paul's that I have tried. I would definitely recommend this guitar to anyone for virtually any style of music!

I got one in January and it's my new favourite guitar. It sounds amazing, feels amazing, and of course looks amazing. No, extras just the original SG like it was intended to be back in 1961. Gibson really nailed it with this one.

Features: The features are pretty straight forward, there's no extras like coil tapping or other bells and whistles. Quality: This guitar is amazing! The neck is very comfortable and feels great to play. And it sounds great! Very punchy great sounding pickups. Value: I would've given a perfect score for value but this guitar comes with a gig bag so L&M had to order in a Gibson Case for me. Overall: I love this guitar and highly recommend it.

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
